Everyone thats lives in the Beach you know you will eat at all these restaurants again. There is alot of issues with the restaurants here but why complain cause we always go back for one reason or another. Or you can always got to 7-11 and get one of lonnies gourmet HotDogs and Nacho's.

Blue collar people, blue collar restaurants, blue collar food and a town lost in a time warp. The dinning capitol of the northern neck. I'm eaten out tonight.

Screw you weaz...how dare you call our town "blue collar". You apparantly have no knowledge of our town or basic respect for others. Didn't your mother teach you better?

Running any business, especially in Colonial Beach is no easy task. This town is full of chronic complainers. Any business that stays open for more than 30 days has mastered the handling of the Colonial Bitchers!
I think you've summed it up quite well!!

just one thought-this is a forum for all of us-we are not auditioning for a commercial for Colonial Beach. I think it is fine for everyone to voice their opinions-I for one learned that perhaps Dockside would be a good place to take my family when they visit. I do live here, and no, I will not eat in all of these restaurants again. My family visits occasionally, but they have pretty much decided they don't want to try to eat seafood here. But I will suggest Dockside!

Golly Gee!! This thread has had more postings then some of the pre-election threads. Can we move on to something else? Hell, at least start bashing McDonald's or something.

My husband and I ate had dinner there last night around 6:30. There were three people at a nearby table that were drinking pretty heavy. A short time after all three downed 3 shots of tequila one of them heaved several times over the side of the deck. That was certainly a photo op for tourism.

The view is fantastic, service is ok, the lower priced burgers and salads are ok, the rest needs to be really improved if they want to get to get
bigger sales tickets.

A lot of drunks and foul language even during the day, needs to be managed better especially on the deck.

I ate at High Tides last evening around 9:00 p.m. It was quiet, we ate inside and had hamburgers which are always good and the fries are some of the best I've had. I guess opinions on food are as varied as the opiners. I saw no drunkedness or poor behavior and had a relaxing and enjoyable meal.
I would hope that when people have problems they share them in a constructive way with the owner who I have found to be sincere in his efforts to operate a good place for all to enjoy.

I must add that a Sunday afternoon on the deck with the live performer, a cold beer and a burger can't be beat anywhere in town.....just keep it classy and respectful.

Dockside is by far the best resturant in town. Food is great (freshly prepared), prices are reasonable for what you get, (check it out folks, their NY Strip is lower in price than High Tides and better quality), and their staff is excellent. No need to look any further. Reservations recommended in summer on weekends especially if you are in a large group.

Would someone please come to Colonial Beach and open a restaurant where food is NOT frozen, wait staff is TRAINED in proper customer relations and families feel comfortable bringing the entire family with them.
I agree that High Tides is a great location with great outdoor atmosphere but the food is NOT WORTH the freezer it is kept in. Too much of their food is pre-prepared by some outsider - I can buy Sara Lee's fish sticks and save money. It does not cost much more to do up fresh seafood and other items and I have never heard anyone complain about cost when the food is GOOD. The drunks and roudies have got to go - we've cut High Tides out of our dining out list.
Fat Fredas - decent sandwiches and other items but I'm tired of going in only to hear the owner chewing out the wait staff and cooks. They seem to be trying to do a good job but he creates an atmosphere that is NOT conducive to "dining out". Come on Bud, get some class and act professionally. You have the potential for a gold mine but I'm not going back now.
Dockside - 90% of the time the food is very good, service is very accommodating and the atmosphere is good. Lately, however, quality is not as consistent but it's the one of the places we're still taking guests to at this time.
Happy Clam - love the owner but food is not as consistent as in the past and there seems to be less really fresh food. I have purchased seafood from the adjacent Seafood Market and it has been great - fresh steamed crabs, soft shell crabs harvested right on site and fresh fish. PLEASE keep up the good work....
Riverboat - possibly the undiscovered prize in town right now. We've eaten there several times and had good food and decent service and since they banned smoking the atmosphere is very nice. We've only tried the crab salad, Seafood sandwich, etc and not the main course but all has been good thus far and the Potomac Restaurant is very comfortable with great river views.
GOOD LUCK - COLONIAL BEACHERS DEMAND BETTER DINING!!!
Amen to that cber. The last time that I got pizza from ledos the sauce ran off the crust and it was very, very sweet.
