I had the distinct pleasure of visiting your town this past weekend and was appauld at the pre-civil war mentality that was displayed on your main street. I do believe in all the freedomes that are in our constitution, and now chose to display mine. I do not know who the city civic leaders are but you give minorities a very valid arguement that racism is not dead. Even the out of town vendors as well as out of town visitors were shocked at the number of vehicles displaying the Rebel flag! What message are you sending, and what does this have to do with "Tater Day"? I saw flags with Larry the Cable Guy's "Get-R-Done" motto on them. Has he endorsed this, or is it that someone in your community has taken this into their own hands to validate the supreme racism that infest your town? As a white American I am appauled that there are not any decent citizens in Marshall county or Benton, who would do the right thing in this matter. I will not darken your streets, and I will make this matter known to all those who will listen till this matter is corrected. How would you feel if you were black and took your family to "Tater Day"?

I would ask him how he would feel taking his white family to a Jeremiah Wright sermon?

There is a place and time for everything and everyone, so deal with it.

So if you despise Marshall County so much, why do you go to tater day to look for a piece of crap like Lunsford? By the way, the last I checked, everyone is moving the hell out of Mayfield since the tire plant closed. Now it's pretty much over run with Mexicans and Blacks...see the correlation? Your Dem activist butt can just stay down there with them, and leave Marshall County alone...we sure in the hell don't need either of your types....now both of you be good little dems and go vote for Barack Hussein Obama!

You are wrong on the not one African American lives in Marshall County. There are more than you think. I have a brother in law that is black and lives in Marshall County, I have a cousin in law that is black and lives in Marshall county, I have a step-son who is black and lives in Marshall county. My children attend Marshall schools, and in each one of their schools there are black children now.

I totally agree with you Racism is not dead...it has now been passed on to the white race. There are plenty of decent citizens in Marshall County, and I am sure many of them disagree with the flag flying...but don't we live in the land of the free? To each his own. Although I never flew a flag at Tater Day, I see nothing wrong with our young folk displaying what they believe in for a day or two.

I have black family that did attend Tater Day, they survived just fine.

People trying to tell other people how they should live, or think is what is wrong with this country today. I say keep it up Marsall County...be proud of who you are and where you came from!!!

This is all a very easy fix. If you don't like what happens and goes on at Tater Day, then don't go. You obviously know nothing about it if that is your opinion on it. I have seen several black people at Tater Day. One family even are vendors there and are very welcome to be there! There are also black people that live in Marshall County. Again, it shows what you know about it. There are racist people in Marshall County, just like there are in every other county in America. And there are non-racist people in Marshall County just like there are in every other county in America. You choose to see the rebel flag flown at Tater Day as a sign of racism and it is not the case. It is a long held tradition that makes Tater Day what it is....a festival that is over 100 years old and still going. Perhaps next year you should attend the Gay Pride parade in a different state...or perhaps you could attend an all black celebration and tell me how many white people are in attendance? Just do me a favor and stay out of Marshall county for Tater Day. Obviously we are better off without your negativity.
