Las Cruces gala to precede inaugural events

Full story: Las Cruces Sun-News

"Governor Elect Susana Martinez and Chuck Franco request your presence at the Inaugural Send off Gala at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Las Cruces Convention Center" reads the dramatic, black, white and shocking pink "SUSANA!" invitation for Las Cruces' bash celebrating New Mexico's first woman governor.

Among those attending will be former county commissioner Kent Evans and his wife, Anna Mae.

I thought Kent was the Spaceport Director?

I am 'outraged' that this event was not held for everyone. I work at the DA's office, worked my a** off for Susana to get elected and I was not invited! She had us doing everything for her election and now I am free to say that the workload was pretty much at a standstill for months! When we all voted for her, it wasn't by invitation only so why can't we attend what she had us work so hard for? She's so ungrateful--but the only consolation I have is that now EVERYONE will see just what a witch she is!!

To all of you who are still bashing Susanna get over it. Besides I am willing to bet more than half of you aren't even native New Mexicans. So if you aren't go back to where you came from so you won't have to have Susanna as your elected Governor.

I know huh? We will have to see what Amy Orlando does when she gets the DA job. I predict she will be even more vindictive. Amy was the one telling everyone what to do for Susana. They are the most unethical pair in the state.

Amy will be taking joyrides in the Ford Explorer very soon. You will find it in the parking lot of the Billy the Kid salon and at the tanning salon too just like when Susana was DA.

I voted against her, don't believe her, think she's gonna undo a lot of progress made in bringing New Mexico into the world market, and wonder who's watching out for the folks she's gonna trample in her rush to do everything 'her way'.

People, People....PLEASE...It is a Gala after all. Mr. Evans and his lovely bride should be allowed to attend and stuff as much free food down their throats as is humanly possible...That is what galas are all about.

Actually, I was dying for you to ask! She needs to tell all how she had me stay 'after hours' and work on flyers, pictures, digging up stupid stuff about the democrats, using office equipment, supplies, etc. How about 2 hrs. each monitoring this site and writing about what a great governor she would make: B---S--t!! If we saw anything written that was negative, we were suppose to 'SHUT EM UP!!'

Sendoff Gala indeed.

If Democrats allowed an overweight, non-native Hispanic woman, we can count on her to cure our critical budget problems, regain world class energy status and become a suburb of our Gov.-elect's major donors' Texas.
In the meantime, we can close schools, cutback on all social services, eliminate aid to children and unwed mothers and put all our money into recruiting business and rolling back environmental and land use policies.

Welcome to the Cruella DeVille Martinez era.

Sounds like you have a grudge, or maybe a little cherry picking, or no, you couldn't of been doing all those tasks, you don't even do the scheduling. How do I know? I saw an article about how you guys and gals were sooo busy and frustrated by all the defense attorney continuances, and that dog-gone crime lab in Santa Fe holding up all the cases. Oh no, were not going to fall for it again. I guessing it must be BB, JIJAC,CP,GM, or any those characters.

Amy is gonna come after you girl. You just watch. I worked with her years ago and I know what kind of person she is. She thinks she can get elected as DA but there's no way that will happen.

If what you say is all true, and I do not doubt for a minute that every incident you describe is true, and you have any substantiation of the these facts, why don't you write it up and present it to the proper authorities, like the AG? If it was as bad as you say, it will only get worse because she will have even more state-paid employees to do her politicking for her, and a much larger budget.

Because of the severe budget deficits facing almost all 50 states, it is interesting to note that almost every new governor being inaugurated this week are foregoing the expensive galas and inaugural "by invitation only" balls and festivities and instead having simple swearing-in ceremonies at their state capitals, to which the public is invited. Martinez, on the other hand, has to really lather it on with not one, but three inaugural balls, if you count the "Children's Ball."

"Invitation-Only" inaugural events speak volumes about how open a government she is going to run. First dash out of the gate, by excluding those who she was elected to represent, this governor is saying, "the public is not welcome - only those with big bucks and influence will have a seat at my table." How else could anyone interpret the route she has chosen to take before she even raises her hand to take the oath?

More proof of a "closed administration" is the fact that although the press has asked many times, she continues to refuse to reveal the names of the donors who are funding these lavish galas. Apparently the pattern which was so evident during the campaign to give her a pass and look the other way on many flagrant questionable issues, by not pressing the issue and insisting she make public the inaugural donors, the press is apparently going to continue to treat her much differently than her predecessor.

Although I have absolutely no use for the governor of Arizona, I really have to give her credit because she will take the oath of office on the Capital Mall, along with all other state-wide elected officials at noon on Monday, January 3rd. Following the swearing in she will meet the public and then go back to working on closing the large looming deficit. No dinners nor formal attire balls.

With massive unemployment and pending job losses, New Mexicans ought to be asking the question, "Are we inaugurating a governor, or are we crowning a queen?"

I guess this was why Kent Evans was paying with small change at the Walgreens store on Lohman and Roadrunner. I became so impatient, I almost paid for his purchase, because he was holding up the line, counting pennys.
All his big bills went to paying for his ticket, I bet.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Virgo

Keep a pinch of salt handy today because not everything you hear will be the gospel truth. Someone might have manipulated the facts to make them sound more acceptable, or they may have got carried away and forgotten to tell you something rather vital. Try to keep misunderstandings to a minimum by being as straightforward and honest as possible, and by not simply assuming that people know what you're talking about and therefore not bothering to explain properly.
