It would seem that because there are many more "hot" days, and people not wanting to be uncomfortable and sweaty stay indoors any do sedentary things-- not burning the calories-- ergo adding more weight..
My advise -- get out, walk the dog a mile or 2 each day. it will come off if you limit your intake.
