The american population still does not understand this "obesity" growth is epidemic w/o contact
Roughly multiplying the obese percentage by 2.5 will account for the total overweight population of america (NO one wanted you to know that additional statistic)
This has been steadily growing without any plateau
I seeing these butterball kids roughly 10-11 years of age and they look like they would weigh me equally - that is terrifying to think of
As people are still making plans for ridiculous 500k loans and will not be able to pay off the interest - I do not expect change from this MASSive trend
Even the Europeans who were generally under our percentage levels (both overweight and obose) are catching up (Scotland tied us last year)

The CDC should be more concern about all the out break with Ecoli then obesity.I think we all know weight will always be an issue but our food supply seems to always be in trouble. Are our fruits and veggies safe to eat?I know I have stop eating them raw.If its not our fruits and veggies, its our meats.Safety should be the first issue at hand.

"CDC officials believe the telephone survey of 350,000 adults offers conservative estimates of obesity rates, because it's based on what respondents said about their height and weight. Men commonly overstate their height and women often lowball their weight, health experts say."

So basically they are telling us the survey is not accurate and therefore meaningless.

I cannot understand the mentality of fat people. Most (not all, as some have medical conditions beyond their control) are the embodiment of the trait I loathe most in humans: laziness. It is unbelievable how many people make virtually no effort to learn about food and nutrition. These are often the same people that can tell you all of the latest (totally irrelevant) celebrity gossip, yet remain completely ignorant about what they are putting into their OWN bodies. The refusal to exercise is mind-boggling as well. It really isn't that difficult to get a decent level of exercise, and the physical and mental rewards are excellent. It's all about setting priorities. Unfortunately, many fat people have their priorities seriously out of whack. I find the lifestyle disgusting.

All these lard butts need to do is stop eating so much and get out for some exercise. Cut out the fast food garbage and try some veggies with a normal sandwich or meal (greasy fries don’t count). Stop the TV time and take a walk for those few hours instead of eating chips and wallowing on the couch. Don’t use all the lame medical excuses either. Fat is stored excess energy.

And as the lazy, nonworking population continues to grow and breed, that number will get larger.

This is just a by-product of all of the technological gains. Think about it, kids used to have to go outside and play ball, run around etc. in order to have fun. Now they just sit and play playstation or X-Box etc. They would also have to go to a library to do research, now, they only have to sit in front of a computer. Adults love their new $2400 flat-screen TVs and computers so much, that they spend way too much time watching instead of moving and maybe even, GASP! go play outside with the kids. In the office, no need to run those forms to the top floor, just scan and fax or email them. And for meals, all of the processed food that is eaten is also taking it's toll on the body as well.
Think about it.

Fat people suck! They smell and sweat like pigs. It is so unfair that we have to see them in public.

We Americans are the pigs of the planet. It really is that simple.

After many years of living abroad (yes, I really did) I now return and see things waddle on the sidewalks of NYC like never before.

Commuting from uptown (N of 125th) I see plumpers squirm onto subway cars and so often feel like asking "What is wrong with you?! Do you WANT to die?!"

And, yes, it is an epidemic.

The more plumpers we see the more socially acceptable it becomes.

Good thing is that seeing these poor creatures reminds me to stick to my diet.

I agree. I live and work in the Bronx and seeing these people really gives me that extra willpower for sticking to my workout regimen. The worst part of all is that many of the ladies, and I use that term loosely, really seem to have convinced themselves that they are super hot. I wish that they would wear clothes that fit them because I am really sick of seeing the disgusting muffin-top. It makes me sick.
