Good Lord - A trip to Hammonnassett Beach would lead anyone to think otherwise - Incredible Lardasses, puckered and sweating fat holes EVERYwhere! Hard to believe CT ranked LOW in obesity. Fatties everywhere.

I find that hard to believe ... I've seen sum real tubbies here .... in fact .... just last weekend I was at the beach ... there was this chubby lady laying on her belly right next to the water ..... when Christopher Columbus sailed up in the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria .... jumped off .... planted a flag in her butt and claimed her in the name of Spain ..... true story ....

not only are connecticut and mississippi on the opposite ends of obesity, but you can also include the following as well: "religious" vs. non-religious ovservers, education levels, income, crime in general whether it be murder, rape, auto theft, etc., divorce rates, teenage pregnancy rates, literacy rates, car deaths per capita- all in connecticut's favor.

Connecticut may be the second "least obese" state - a more positive description might have been "most slender" state - but we will still be baraged with news about how terrible we eat and how fat we are.

The media loves to show us our faults, and in a mass lowering of self-esteem.

Maybe we should all throw our magazines out, refuse to read statistics that inflate the magnitude of our very human vices, and just live.

Wouldn't it be nice to love yourself? Exercise because it feels good? And stop comparing yourself to some ridiculous, air-brushed ideal in a swimsuit ad?

Life is too short to worry about what your stats are. Maybe we'd be happier loving ourselves and our families than we are trying to reach a ridiculous idea of physical perfection that is just humanly unattainable. Because if it isn't your weight, it'll be your skin; if it isn't your skin, it'll be something else.

Amrn!!
My daughter has anorexia. Not caused by media, its truly a genetic and biological disease, but the attention on "fatties" and other obsessions about looks does not help.
Im all for just enjoying our bodies and respecting their value.

These observations appear justifiable. It does seem that there are plenty of obese people in Connecticut despite these statistics that show Connecticut ranks 2nd least obese. Additionally, look at all of these fat kids - there never used to be obese chidren! They sit and eat junk food in front of a computer or tv all afternoon rather than getting exercise and fresh air. People just think they are too short for their weights!

Connecticut ranks #1 when it comes to fat between the ears,... with all of it hifalutin college-educated citizens and pseudo wine-tasting, brie-eating, libral do-gooders.

Gov. Rell is the lead fathead in the state, with the highes poll ratings ever. Also, they don't teach phys ed the way they used to. The schools are afraid of getting sued by the parents of their little daahlins.

Bloomy is the state's #2 fathead. He wants to sue the VA. Get real! What did the VA ever do to him? I suppose this fathead libral do-gooder of an attorney general got student deferments to avoid serving in the military during wartime. I wonder if anybody in his family has served?

Come to think of it, Bush/ Cheney did the same. You can't win.
