Awesome, dinni has a spicy shrimp sauce now, exactly like bang bang shrimp at bone fish grill, just follow the recipe, you won't be dissappointed.
Ah their Mesq BBQ sauce, just out of the smoke house.

After trying all posted recipe, I found that Dinni's has posted a new recipe for the which is very close to the restaurants. I also think they have changed the name of the Bang Bang Sauce to Spicy Shrimp Sauce:

Here is the recipe:
RESTAURANT STYLE
FRIED SPICY SHRIMP

Serve 1

6 Medium Shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Panko Bread Crumbs1/2 Cup Corn Starch
shredded cabbage (optional)
scallions (optional)

1 TBL to Taste Dinni's Select Spicy Shrimp Sauce
http://www.dinnisselect.com/Merchant2/merchan...

Note: Start with a small amount of Sauce & gradually
increase to taste
Soak shrimp in bowl with milk.
In a bowl put panko bread crumbs and another bowl put corn starch. Dredge the shrimp in the corn starch, then again in the milk and finally in the panko bread crumbs & set aside.
Heat a large skillet to 300 degrees. Drop shrimp in and fry until golden brown. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon. Drain fried shrimp on paper towels lined plate.
In a large bowl combine fried shrimp with prepared sauce until evenly coated. Pile high on a bed of shredded cabbage and garnish with scallions.

I recently (Feb. 2010) cooked with the recipe posted on Dinni's Select website but it called for Dinni's Select Spicy Shrimp Sauce, and not the Bang Bang Sauce (I think they have changed the name) The shrimp came out no different then what I get at Bonefish Grill.

Do NOT bother with the Dinniselect sauce, it is awful and it goes out of date soon... it is a waste.

I cooked the following recipe at a 2010 Valentines Day Party , It came out very close to Bonefish Grill's Bang Bang Shrimp;

1 lb. Medium Shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Panko Bread Crumbs1/2 Cup Corn Starch
shredded cabbage (optional)
scallions (optional)

To Taste Dinni's Select Spicy Shrimp Sauce
(Sold on the internet only, I think)

Soak shrimp in bowl with milk.
In a bowl put panko bread crumbs and another bowl put corn starch. Dredge the shrimp in the corn starch, then again in the milk and finally in the panko bread crumbs & set aside.
Heat a large skillet to 300 degrees F. Drop shrimp in and fry until golden brown. Remove from oil. Drain fried shrimp on paper towels lined plate.
In a large bowl combine fried shrimp with prepared sauce until evenly coated. Pile on a bed of shredded cabbage.

Food Network Magazine had an interesting version of Bang Bang chicken recently. I have never eaten at Bonefish Grill (I live in Texas), but was intrigued enough by this discussion of Bang Bang Shrimp to try out Food Network's Version. I have no idea how it really compares to the Real McCoy, but I'm going to make it tonight.

Sauce:
1/2 mayonnaise
1 T. plus 1 teaspoon Asian Chili Sauce
2 t. honey
Kosher salt
Mix together ingredients for sauce.

Shrimp:
2 large eggs (beaten)

3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. cornstarch
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
Mix dry ingredients together for coating.

Dredge the shrimp in flour mixture, then dip in beaten eggs, then dredge again in flour.
Fry in vegetable oil. Drain.

Toss shrimp with sauce. Top with scallions

When people post comments like horrible, throw up, it just tells that they can not even boil water with out their Mom supervising them. For all those dummies below is a kitchen tried and proven method, if you can not follow the following simple directions and use your own taste and judgment you should be in a nut house not in a kitchen;
1 lb Frozen Breaded Shrimp - Deep Fry it light brown
Toss in 1 TBS Dinni's Select Spicy Shrimp Sauce ( previously they called it Bang Bang sauce)
Increase or decrease the sauce according to taste.
You will get the same results as Bonefish Grill's

I found a simpler recipe on Dinni's Website which worked great, I stared with half the amount of the recommended sauce and gradually increased it.

I am very happy with the results.

FYI I was searching fot Dinni's Select Bang Bang Sauce but they have changed its name to Dinni's Select Spicy Shrimp Sauce

Of course it is corn starch - why would you use gritty corn meal? The corn starch mixed with flour does a great job making the fried shrimp light and delicate.

This recipe is wrong. It is corn meal, not corn starch. Why in the heck would you use 3/4 c. Corn starch in anything?
bang bang shrimp does not have cornmeal. it has a fluffy outercrust that corn starch produces

After reading all comments here I wanted to try this Dinni's Select Sauce for myself, but I took Lyn's advice because I also think that 3/4 cup of starch does not sound right, however instead of battering my Shrimp, I bought already battered extra large shrimp from my local grocery store, deep fried it. and tossed it in the Bang Bang Sauce, I did not use too much sauce. My shrimp came out tasting exactly like Bone Fish Grills. I am extremely happy with the results, maybe rest of these guys may have done some thing different and did not get the good results as I got.
I believe I'll try a tempura batter for the shrimp and then use a small amount of saucefor the coating afterward - if anyone wants more sauce they can dip the shrimp in more.

I have disliked every shrimp I've eaten until I found bang bang shrimp at Bonefish. After some interweb research, it seemed the Dinnis spicy shrimp sauce was an easy inexpensive way to try and make at home. I got the sauce last week. Tonite I picked up corn starch, vegetable oil, japanese style panko breadcrumbs AND out of pure laziness I picked up Gortons popcorn shrimp, figuring Id try the easy method before preparing and breading the fresh shrimp. I heated the oil, dropped in 20 of the gortons shrimp (which are small like at the bonefish), cooked for approx 2-3 minutes and drained on paper towel. I coated a small tupperwear container with the Dinnis sauce, dropped the shrimp in, added about a tablespoon or so on top, covered and shook gently to coat the shrimp. The sauce in my opinion is DEAD ON. The shrimp was surprisingly great for frozen pre-breaded. The breading is a little heavier than at the bonefish, but it tasted amazing anyway. Im sure with the fresh shrimp it will be even better, but I have to say the ease of the popcorn shrimp and the "bangin" taste of the Dinni's sauce made for a truly accurate at-home creation of my favorite appetizer ever. I highly recommend it.

CUT THE CHASE
Numerous times over the last 4 years I have been making the "cloned" Bang Bang Shrimp using Dinni's Sauce. Each time it turns out to be Right On target. However there is one Exception, I had cut out all the crap ingredients line corn meal, eggs, baking powder.
If you are biased against Dinni's Product then you can try other recipe which are fairly good, but they are definitely not a duplicate of Bonefish for sure.

Following is my version:

Bonefish's Bang Bang Shrimp latest Knockoff Recipe
Servings: 2

INGREDIENTS

1 lb Medium Shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 Cup Milk
1 Cup Panko Bread Crumbs
1/2 Cup Corn Starch
shredded cabbage (optional)
scallions (optional)
1 TBSP or to Taste Dinni's Select Spicy Shrimp Sauce

Note; As a personal preference I personally left out the Onions and the Panko Bread Crumbs.

DIRECTIONS
Soak shrimp in bowl with milk.
In a bowl put panko bread crumbs and another bowl put corn starch. Dredge the shrimp in the corn starch, then again in the milk and finally in the panko bread crumbs & set aside.
Heat a large skillet to 300 degrees F. Drop shrimp in and fry until golden brown. Remove from oil. Drain fried shrimp on paper towels.
In a large bowl combine fried shrimp with sauce until evenly coated. Pile on a bed of shredded cabbage and garnish with scallions.
NOTE: Unfrozen shrimp can be replaced with frozen battered shrimp..

Well, in my attemps to copy this recipe as well, I found a better sauce than the one listed above. As a chef myself, I would rarely use a store bought sauce, so I decided to create one. I found that mixing a chili garlic sauce along with mayo and fresh garlic and a little salt, pepper, and wok oil worked perfectly. Not a 50:50 mix either more like a 30:70 mix is better. Chili garlic sauce:mayo. Also the sauce listed above did not take 1st place, rather it took 2nd place in 1 division only.
Sounds good Dave. I always thought I detected a little mustard in the sauce? or maybe it's wasabi?

i think bonefish uses panko for breading the shrimp
No, it's actually seasoned flour and buttermilk. The sauce is mayo, sweet thai chili sauce, srirachi, lemon juice, and I can't remember the last ingredient, but I don't think it was a major one. But the ones I just listed, I know for sure. It's been a few years since I made it.. wink wink
