With the Party Season here, this is the recipe which will “Break the Ice” amongst the part guests and “Kick Start” it into a party which people will remember for along time; I am posting the recipe below, you will thank me for it.: This is not a copyrighted recipe. BANG BANG SAUCE SHRIMP 1st PLACE WINNER - 2007 Scovie Awards Kitchen Tested Recipe Recipe Rating:*****++ 2 pounds peeled and deveined Jumbo or large shrimp 1 teaspoons salt 2 well beaten eggs, 3/4 cup milk 1/2 teaspoon salt 3/4 cup Corn Starch 3/4 cup flour 3/4 teaspoon baking powder Oil for deep frying 1 bottle Dinni’s Select Bang Bang Sauce (from www.dinnisselect.com ) You can make your own sauce by mixing Thai Chili Sauce and Mayonnaise (50:50) or buy another brand, but then you will not have the Bonefish’s taste, I have been unsuccessfully trying for over 2 years to copy it for my catering business. If you are in hurry you can substitute the shrimp with store bought pre-battered frozen shrimp. DIRECTIONS: Sprinkle shrimp with 1 1/2 teaspoons salt; let stand at room temperature for 12 minutes. Combine eggs, milk, corn starch, flour, baking powder in mixing bowl; mix until smooth. Heat oil in deep fryer to 350F. Add batter to the bowl with shrimp, stir till the shrimp is well coated with batter drop shrimp in the deep fryer and fry till golden brown (about 3 minutes) In a separate bowl or a ( large zip lock bag ) empty one 12 oz. bottle of Bang Bang Sauce, drop the fried shrimp and still till all the shrimp is coated with the sauce. Garnish with fresh green or red hot peppers and serve with side of Bang Bang Sauce for dipping.

Well, in my attemps to copy this recipe as well, I found a better sauce than the one listed above. As a chef myself, I would rarely use a store bought sauce, so I decided to create one. I found that mixing a chili garlic sauce along with mayo and fresh garlic and a little salt, pepper, and wok oil worked perfectly. Not a 50:50 mix either more like a 30:70 mix is better. Chili garlic sauce:mayo. Also the sauce listed above did not take 1st place, rather it took 2nd place in 1 division only.

The dinniselect bang bang sauce is not even close. It tastes more like Thousand Island dressing with a kick. Horrible stuff!

This recipe is wrong. It is corn meal, not corn starch. Why in the heck would you use 3/4 c. Corn starch in anything?

After reading all comments here I wanted to try this Dinni's Select Sauce for myself, but I took Lyn's advice because I also think that 3/4 cup of starch does not sound right, however instead of battering my Shrimp, I bought already battered extra large shrimp from my local grocery store, deep fried it. and tossed it in the Bang Bang Sauce, I did not use too much sauce. My shrimp came out tasting exactly like Bone Fish Grills. I am extremely happy with the results, maybe rest of these guys may have done some thing different and did not get the good results as I got.

You guys are silly. Being a chef shouldn't be about copying everyone else's recipes. Its about giving life to the ones you think of every day. So people who work as a line cook at denny's need to stop passing themselves off as chef's. The only recipe a chef follows is in his/her heart.

I tried the dinniselect sauce and it is absolutely disgusting. It is not even close to Bonefish Grill. I would not recommended you waste the money on the sauce. Infact I bought a case of it after reading all the reviews on the web and tried it at a superbowl party. Not one person out of 15 thought that it was even close.

I tried dinni bang bang sauce at my party last Christmas, it was a hit. I don't consider myself much of a cook, and it did the trick. I guess using the right amount is the key.
