I also discovered bananas work for Acid Reflux. I have also used a large box of cook & stir vanilla pudding; and one small box of banana cream cook & stir pudding- which also seems to help, either as a pudding or pie. Sometimes I eat with banana added, but not always.

Another help has been apples. Golden Delicious worked best for me. And a plain piece of white bread, is another item I use often; sometimes alone, or with a banana, or the vanilla/banana cream pudding and/or apple.

I take Prevacid 30 mg. whenever I feel the symptoms of heartburn coming on - but it takes hours to work, so I've had to try other things to help before med kicks in.

Oddly enough, I'm not able to eat a whole banana (half of one is O.K.) without suffering intense stomach pain. I asked my doctor about this, since I'm also an acid-reflux sufferer, and she told me that she's heard of others that have the same adverse effects from bananas ( I sure haven't!).
Anyone else out there that has this situation?

I don't eat bananas because they give me problems associated with GERD. After I eat a banana, I get a burning sensation from my left shoulder to about the armpit. If I am going to have a banana, I better take my Ranitidine first.

There is a remedy that is 100% safe. It's Chlorophyll. There's nothing worse that a child with constipation issues. If chlorophyll is safe and effective for small children, it will help you. It's fantastic because there are no harmful side effects like with medication and it's amazingly effective. It also doesn't cause cramping like laxatives. Take chlorophyl and your BM will be smooth and easy without strain. Go to mynews2u.com and find out more. Here's the link! Try it!

I was having major gastritis, heartburn and acid reflux. I had an endoscopy and the doctor told me I had Barrett's. This worried me and the worry and fear made the pain and burning in my chest worse. I was desperate for relief and the medication, diet change and exercise did not help. I searched the internet and discovered ginger juice. I thought we'll it can't hurt. After three days my symptoms were gone. I continued taking it for the recommended three weeks and I am back to normal. I am amazed. Ginger is a miracle and there are no side effects like with the medication. Please try it. Dr. Walt Stoll says that ginger juice has a 100% success rate.

I've had mild gerds (getting worse) for the past two years, and found it was partly from my rich diet and love affair with lightly roasted 'high mountain' oolong teas. I started drinking roasted organic oolongs and pu-er tea last fall, and have not had any problems at all for the past 4 months. I drink quite a bit (probably a liter a day), and also find that bowel movements are, well,'more satisfying'. Hope that's not sharing too much!:)

The banana is acidic if it is yellow and does not have any bruises. However, when it becomes a bit over ripe and has developed a few bruises it then becomes alkaline. Try eating a ripe banana if you have acid reflux.

Wow, that's a good one. I will give it a try. What works great for me is a tablespoon of raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar. http://www.indigestionsymptoms.org
