I think this is a great idea. I just wonder how long it's going to take for the city to shut them down, because we all know it's going to happen.

Why would that happen? Your front lawn is private property. Would the city be able to do that legally?

If you were growing the veggies for your own consumption, and freely sharing the overflow, could the city find fault with that?

What happens to these gardens when the frost hits? I'm sure they don't look bad in the summer but, in the winter you have a big ugly mud hole. Is there something they plant in the winter months to fill in the dead plants? Interested in this for myself but, don't want my neighbors complaining about visual blight.

I think OldGuy hit the nail right on the head… Someone or department down the line will find a problem with this, I sure as heck hope not but now that it was in the paper I bet it’s just a matter of time… And it clearly states in the article that the harvest is sold, I might be wrong but doesn’t the County Ag department have to certify all crops grown and/or sold in the County?

I moved away from Woodland in 1991, to a tiny house, on an acre of land.. I turned that land into veggie and fruit gardens, and donate food to the food closet here.I feel good about it too!!!

You plant winter vegetables. It does not get cold enough to freeze the plants out.

Boy, what optimistic folks, LOL!
We are a licensed business following a model used in many cities across the U.S. Our Open Garden was a wonderful experience that opened many to new uses for that waste of a space they call the front lawn. Time to move forward from the U.S.'s odd obsession with the green lawn...
Thanks for your, uh, words, though...nonetheless.

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Taurus

Friends and partners aren't behaving as you would like today. They're eager to go their own way, much to your annoyance. In order to get round this you're going to have to ask yourself some tricky questions, such as whether you're trying to control everyone's behavior or whether they're being inconsiderate in wanting to do their own thing. It's a Full Moon and a lunar eclipse, so maybe you should all release the tension by making it a super New Year's Eve celebration?
