I think that the second picture is of the fuyu variety.
Persimmons are one of my favorite fruit. I especially like to eat Fuyu raw. They have a taste that suits the season--one of pumpkins. I'm assuming because of the orange color that that is the flavor of carotine--as in carrots. I find the fruit as well as the trees beautiful. The sino-japanese heritage and links to california agriculture and mandarins are interesting too. |

I'm having difficulty finding the Fuyu Persimmon Relish recipe as mentioned in the Sweet Basil and the Bee section dated November 18th in the Chico ER. Any suggestions?
