I wonder if the price of a deer burger is going to go up at the Grove City location?

It is just what the article says... Max & Erma's is nothing special anymore. Just another restaurant.

Max and Ermas change there menus every day! They need to fire everyone at the headqurters and go back to what there good at and stop trying to sell CRAP! And advertise on smart cars!!!!!

I've been going to Max & Ermas less and less over the past few years as their prices went higher. You can usually get more for your buck at other similar restaurants.

This article makes G & R look good compared to what goes on behind closed doors. This is a huge disappointment to hear that such carelessness can bring a monumental restaurant chain to near extinction. I certainly hope they come out of this, and develop a stronger organizational structure for the company.

Oh please-oh please don't let this happen to Damon's rib joint. Oh plese --no-no-no don't let this happen to Damon's.

This was a terrible article! I like the comment about what goes on behind closed doors because I have good suspicion that there were some misdoings by some of the higher-ups in this company. Not to mention the financial suicide of changing menus as soon as customers finally began to adjust to drastic alterations.

Most people should acknowledge that sacrifices are necessary fairly early in a leadership situation. Sacrifice is a constant in leadership. It is an ongoing process, not a one-time payment. It's an attitude that any successful leader must maintain. Any time you know that a step is right, don't hesitate to make a sacrifice. Leaders who want to rise have to do more than take an occasional cut in pay. Mr. Reinert is making the smartest move that he can to correct a pre-existing situation. His time is no longer his own. He is scrutinized constantly. His family is under tremendous pressure, and he must make decisions that can cost hundreds of people.
Chapter 11 relieves M&E of the obligation of paying substantial debt, while giving Mr. Reinert the opportunity to reorganize the company. Accept the moment as it is. Now take your beautiful children trick-or-treating. They're waiting for you. |

If you care to dine at Crapplebees where literally everything is microwaved or Thank God It's Fried (TGIF), or Red Robin where you burger is cooked on a conveyor belt, then have at it! If those are the restaurants that you think are better than Max & Erma's-- where they prep most items from scratch daily and prepare you meals (including all of your modifications) and they comp the item for you once you don't like the way it tastes, even though you completely changed how it was SUPPOSED to be made in the first place, have fun!
As far as bankruptcy goes---there have been plenty of companies that have done this, and plenty more that will have to. Let's hope it's your company, so we can leave evil blogs about you losing your job too!!! |

Well, I appreciate the opportunity you're giving me Mr. Cromwell as the single largest shareholder in Teldar Paper, to speak. Well, ladies and gentlemen we're not here to indulge in fantasy but in political and economic reality. America, America has become a second-rate power. Its trade deficit and its fiscal deficit are at nightmare proportions. Now, in the days of the free market when our country was a top industrial power, there was accountability to the stockholder. The Carnegies, the Mellons, the men that built this great industrial empire, made sure of it because it was their money at stake. Today, management has no stake in the company! All together, these men sitting up here own less than three percent of the company. And where does Mr. Cromwell put his million-dollar salary? Not in Teldar stock; he owns less than one percent. You own the company. That's right, you, the stockholder. And you are all being royally screwed over by these, these bureaucrats, with their luncheons, their hunting and fishing trips, their corporate jets and golden parachutes.

I stopped going to Max and Erma's when the beverage cost went to $2.39. It made me mad, that every thing on the menu had a price, but the cost of pop. What is the first thing they ask you when you sit down, "what do you want to drink". When I saw no pricing on the menu, after I paid the bill I left, and left for good. |

My friends and I used to go to M&E 2-3 times a week. The prices on the southern fried chicken salad just kept going higher and higher.$9.xx for a salad with chicken tenders is insane.

Gordon you hit the nail on the head. We have gone from an ownership country, to a country where the powers that be try to get someone else to put up their money and take the risk, while they just take theirs off the top. Create a pool of money, slop at it like pigs until it's dry and leave the owners with the scraps. Ostensibly the owners should be making the money, but that's not the way this economy works anymore. |

does this now mean the new garbage burger will now be made out of real garbage?
