Veganism - doing the right thing

Jul 7, 2011 | Posted by: UAAF | Full story: www.jpost.com

Vegans are people who take vegetarianism a step further. Not only do they eschew all meat, poultry and fish, but they also won’t touch eggs or any kind of dairy produce.

Veganism is the way to go. Very healthy and great for the environment.

Going vegan is the best decision i've ever made. My energy levels are great and im very healthy.

A well balanced vegan diet is very healthy and more and more people are starting to follow it each day. I've spoken to many people this year that have went vegan.

Following a meat diet is very unhealthy and also bad for the environment. Meat consumption has killed millions of people and millions more will die in the coming years.

Following a vegan diet will reduce the demand for meat which will mean less animals bred for slaughter which means you're saving the lives of many animals and you're also helping save the enviroment.

The vegan diet is truly amazing :)

It takes strong willed, and noble people to become vegan. Becoming vegan is a selfless act. I'm proud to be vegetarian, and working on making that final leap myself.

Im more of a passionate foodie, i don`t eat anything with milk in as cow/goat/yak milk is not for humans it`s for the growing baby, i eat free range meat where the animal is raised to a good age and i wont go into it further since i may upset vegans, i don`t want to be a vegan, i rather be a person who eats meat once a month and be proud to know where is comes from, age its killed how its killed, i hate people who eat meat and dont think about what the animals gone through, when i visit/stay over at friends/family im seen as a picky eater :) but it`s worth it to keep a clear mind

Good to know you're smart enough to know this, many people are still clueless when it comes to animal milk.

Same here.

When i got my laptop i did some reseaching on animal products and one thing that surprised me was the dangers of consuming dairy. As i learned more about it i new i had to cut it out of my diet and i dont regret it, im much healthier now :)

I also told my mum about the dangers of consuming dairy and she decided to give it up and she is more healthier now.

Dairy is a poison and thankfully more and more people are beginning to realise this :D

The thing is that meat consumption is directly linked to SEVERAL serious diseases, causes unconscionable cruelty and violent deaths to animals, and animal agriculture is over using resources, polluting soil, water and air and it effects EVERYONE. It's not just a matter of people doing something because it "agrees with them" it's about caring beyond ourselves and living a more healthful, environmentally conscious, sustainable life that will benefit everyone, human and non human. That's great that you do not eat animals, and perhaps one day you will learn the benefits of omitting dairy and eggs, both of which also cause suffering and deaths of animals, and pollute our environment.

Nobody is saying that you must eat what is ethically unacceptable to you. Ethics are a very subjective thing. If you find it necessary to adhere to a specific diet in order to satisfy your your personal ethics I support you 100%. However you must understand the others may have different ethical philosophies and that they are no better or worse than yours.....just different. There are many things in this world that don't jive with my personal ethics. I can't control that, nor should I. With something as basic as diet I have no problem understanding that there are many, many things out there that people eat which I find unethical or even revolting but I don't condemn them for it because they probably find my diet objectionable in one way or another. You are right in choosing your diet to suit yourself and your beliefs but if you attempt to hold forth that your choice is the ONLY acceptable one for everybody you are wrong.

Well, I don't consider it our right to take another beings life, just because we can. Murder is never justifiable.
On the other hand, I do appreciate the fact that you're well mannered and you seem pleasant to speak with, but I just can't bend on this issue, it breaks my heart to know that innocent animals are being slaughtered for their flesh, weather it's in a slaughterhouse or by a hunter in nature :(
The word "murder" refers to the taking of a human life, to the best of my knowledge. I'm sure that it refers to the unjustified taking of life. If I take the life of an animal for food, why is that any less justified than a non-human predator taking the life of an animal for food? I don't understand how you can differentiate between the two. If it is justifiable for one predator then why not the other?
