We came in last saturday for crab soup and soft crab sandwich. the crab soup did not taste like the crab soup i have been getting there for many years. i told the waitress it tasted like vegtable soup. we all agreed your cook must have been out sick.
please let me know, when he or she comes back. we may try again. it was a big disappointment.
it is too far to drive (the price of gas doesn't help) to be so disappointed.
Thanks,
Betty

Tall Oaks has been and will forever be in my heart! The family that I made working there was the best thing to happen to me in my entire life! I knew them before, during, and even after. They ARE and forever will be my Other family, till this day. I really miss working there and wish everything was the same again and we all worked there again. If they do open back up, sure it's good for business but keeping the name Tall Oaks and just adding on colony to it, It Is NOT the same kk....I don't know what much else to say cept, I loved that place and the time I worked there in 2008 will forever be the best year of my life until the day I die.

I keep calling the number from time to time hoping to hear someone answer the phone saying Tall Oaks. I grew up in that area and I remember going there as a kid and I would have their fried chicken. Then my mom told me to try a part of her fried hard crab and Tall Oaks became my favorite place to go to eat. My family would take special girls day out to go there and we all had fried hard crabs together. I miss Tall Oaks and I will be back if it reopens. We all miss it!

What ever happened to Nick and Wanda Funkhouse? I was in the service with Nick and attended their wedding as one of their ushers. It's many years but I'd like to know what happened. Hope to hear back from someone

I heard a rumor that this restaurant was reopening -- has anyone else heard that too? Or do you think that the area is changing too much to allow a restaurant of any type to work in this community -- i.e., the neighbors are resistant to any commercial enterprise being so close?

Yep....The Rumour is true. Dennis, a former owner/operator from Windows on the Bay is performing a complete renovation of the facility and yes- even retaining the name "Tall Oaks"!!!! I hear he will also be re-introducing some of their famous dishes and bringing on a couple of new ones as well. With the closing of Windows, the coming of Mikes Crab House, and a few other new restaurants in the area,(Green Turtle,Two Rivers Steak House) Pasadena is soon to be a dining destination for those who appreciate our wonderful little town.
Life is good in the Dena!!!!

This is great news! I currently work in the Tysons area in Virginia, but a weekend visit to Tall Oaks is definitely in my future plans. Do they have a website? Does anyone know their hours?
