Shoes would cost far less to produce if they came in 'rights' only. That would make them more affordable for the poor.

If they were smart one or both of the major parties would add a 'RIGHT SHOE ONLY' plank to its platform this summer.

On second thought, most politicos would see 'LEFTS' be the far better fit. Pity.

Way to go Tribune. The top story is that Calif isn't having trans fats any more? Not that Iraq is finally getting peaceful and that US forces have shown them the way? Of course not, just no more juice in your hamburger. That's the IMPORTANT story, right?

I think the ban is ridiculous!#1 It should be the consumer's choice. While I prefer organic anything myself, it is not for the gov to decide.#2 They are replacing transfats with GMOs. How do we know how dangerous they are? It was the budinski health crusaders who harped we should use margarine instead of butter. Now they are going after margarine with the same intensity.#3 Ironic they are trying to make us squeeze out every last minute of life when so many people can not count on SSI, their pension plans, or even their bank accounts or home prices. What sense does that make!#5 Arnold and Maria are terrible role models for health. They are exaggerated examples of the ideal. Men would have to either spend all their time in a gym or take steroids to look like him. I don't know what she looks like lately as Cali politics disgusts me, but I remember her as being extremely thin. It is NOT healthier to be excessively thin, most studies show just the opposite. Look at Jackie Kennedy, who did not live to a very old age. One of the last questions she asked is just what was the point of her trying to stay so trim. Most women would have to have an eating disorder to be as thin as Maria. How hypocritical of them both!!!

Sorry- can't let you get away with that. Conservatives want to ban all kinds of things too. Banning is a bipartisan practice. Stop trying to make this partisan thing, it isn't.

Yes, this is why the Founding Fathers fought the War of Independence -- so government could dictate what the people of the Republic can or cannot ingest.

This is not why government was formed. If we wanted this, we would have so stated in the Federal and States Constitutions. We are adults able to decide for ourselves what is good vs what is bad for us as individuals.

Sure- many conservatives want to ban equal marriage rights for gay and some want to ban contraceptives and abortion. If you'd like more, I'm sure I could dig some up.
