A clay lover wrote: I wish I hasn't bought clay yesterday, this challenge would be so much easier, if the clay wasn't staring at me lol! I will try my best, I need to reduce my intake. I usually have around £4.00 worth of the Ghana clay a week. This equates to about 15 -20 pieces. Need to cut down, I have not had kids yet. The stories I've had heard about how clay affects fertility really scare me! The Fertility drama surrounding clay is the main reason I want to stop eating clay ... to allow the Lead gradually flush out of my system ( ie if it does contain Lead) 15-20 pieces is less than my daily intake, and like you I have a large bag starring back at me..... But I am trying so hard not to get tempted. Had a piece today but couldn't eat and spat it out.... My hubby couldnt believe it!!! Lolol

toni wrote: DE earth eaters pls stop it can kill you this is not a game its not clay, DE is use as a Detox an humans eating it all the time will only cause you pain.. I talk to a lady that was on here that kept doing research on it an she told our group.. a lady who has pica like most of us. got a 1lb bag an went crazy eating it had to go to the hospital because her stomach started to swell. You got to drink more then a little water with DE.... I myself stared to see my weight go down but stared to have swelling in my feet (both) an this has never happen.. lady's I know how hard it is to let go of clay (I really do) but this DE is not a good thing, people have said diffrent things about DE an it all sound good but most of the reports were white people (not being funny) they all said that it help But most of the bad reports was people of color who got sick an some we had to be put in the hospital .... DONT EAT DE IF YOU HAVE IT IN YOUR HOUSE TAKE IT OUT RIGHT NOW.. IF YOU HAVE GOTTEN HOOK ON IT FOR 3DAY DRINK GRAPEFRUIT JUICE AN WATER TO REMOVE THE DE OUT OF YOU SYSTEM AN DONT EAT CLAY OR CORNSTARCH FOR THE 3 DAYS..DE is not for us lady's get it out of your house.. o yeah if you have been on it for more then a week an get off you may get sick an think you have a cold or the flu you don't its just the flour getting out of your system if this happen look for Fiji water. This well help wow I did not know this.. I been getting clay here in NY from a African lady her family brings it to her every month 3 diffrent kinds one was yellowish an the other two was khaki. Both very good I would buy at 1st 4 nice size chucks of all 3 an it would last me a long time now 4 will last 1min I got up to 10 chucks a day I got so sick I was throwing up blood which got me crazy.. a lady at a health food store told me to take DE which like a lot of people help me to stop the want of clay but had me wanting to eat this now.. I been clean (lol) from clay for 4 months an now take DE still but only every other day, its none thing wrong with DE its that people over do it because it say food grade. It is shell flour true an yes it do swell the stomach up because the person don't drink enough water which is a must.. you can very do on anything it can help as well as hurt.. but DE help me at the end of the day when I used it the right way.

@mona ny. If DE has work for then thank God.. but you are so right it did help me to stop eating clay an cornstarch it took me about a week but I didn't want it nor look at it.. but on the DE thing I know I could not take it because I love to eat clay not cornstarch as much but I love clay so eating DE was not good for a pica person like myself. I was hook on DE an would eat it an not put it in water but right out of the bag I was eating it. Maybe that's why it did what it did because me an other lady's would eat it. But for my mona Ny I will not go back to it no matter how much weight I lost...

I have a question ladies. Now everyone needs to be completely honest. What is the most amount of clay or boxers of cornstarch / DE you have eaten in 1 day?
I ask this question because I think we all need to understand the extent of our addictions in order to make a serious attempt to stop or continue with the 30 day challenge (I'm on day 2.... Yay!)
So to answer my own question, the most clay ive eaten in 1 day is 25 pieces of the Ghanaian clay (egged shaped).
What is the most you have eaten?

I have eaten 20 pieces of clay in a day the red clay and a box of cornstrach in a day I use to be really bad but I have slowed down alot have not had any cornstrach in a long time because I had a very bad time using the restroom. A lady on here sent me some white dirt 3 pieces and I ate all 3 in less then 10 mins that's the frist time I had clay or strach on about 3 4 months but I'm back to not eating any trying for a baby right now.

When I was eating white dirt I would order 2 bags from sam's and it would last less than a month. I was ordering like every 4weeks....now cornstarch I was eating a box in a week. At one time I was buying argo and clabber girl at the same time. Today I threw away the rest of my cornstarch the half a box I had left. I don't want to buy anymore and hopefully I can do it.

What is the most you have eaten? about 40 a day,I like to crush to powder and eat with a spoon so consuming 40 is pretty easy,I only know I'm in trouble when I can't go downstairs quickly enough or when my flow starts,if its the Ghana one ,I do 20pieces.never bothered abt cornstarch cos of weigh gain.I am on day 5 of the abstinence and the crave is intense,I mustnt  any clay now till I balance myself out.sometimes I heat the clay up,or add water and make new chunks.just wish I can really stop.you only think of stopping after you have take the quantity that can possibly kill you.what an addiction.

Like Adaku, I crush mine to powder and eat with a spoon.... I love the salty Nigerian calabash chalk aka Nzu. I guess about 40 pieces a day or more....! Friends and family coming over from Nigeria usually bring large bags for me, so I always have a good supply...lol However, am trying for another baby and that is the compelling reason to stop...! Since I made up my mind to flush Lead if any from my system, I have found that I can't even eat one...! I guess my addiction does not surpass my need for that daughter of mine..:)

Lololol.... I absolutely know the feeling.... You know what your post kind of encouraged me... I came on this forum to find out if any one has conceived despite a huuuuuuge addiction to clay especially Nzu, so hearing about your step-sister gave me hope! In fact, really ashamed of myself now cause immediately after reading your post I popped a piece in my mouth.... Funny I didn't enjoy it as I normally would. Guess, my psyche has rejected Nzu which a great step in the right direction....i.e. I no longer enjoy eating it!!!! My advice to you would be ... Don't finish that batch, cause you will end up looking for more like a junkie....try and control the urge while you still have some.....that is a greater accomplishment! I have a large bag ....andirons am proud of myself cause it is still large! Lol My hubby can't believe it cause by now I would have finished the batch and started calling friends if they knew anyone coming to London from Nigeria who could bring Nzu for me!!! Lolololol The journey of a thousand miles starts with a step....one day soon, I hope, I will see Nzu and resist the urge to throw a piece in my mouth!

Hello, first would like to send some words of encouragement to the ladies on the challenge. Hope you're all staying strong - you must be so proud of yourselves with each passing day.
I have been fighting the urge to go back on DE and have caved in and bought some. Despite the craving I feel I can control it like I can now control my cornstarch eating and just hope I can. I have a question though for the users of DE and anyone else who has done some reading on it:
The DE I bought (only type readily available) says that it's food grade, pure and "no synthetic chemicals" BUT also says "For animal use only".
I had thought that only two types of DE - the pool type (bad) and food grade (good for humans, in moderation?) but wonder why it says animal only. The other brand I've bought before didn't say that...it said was for animals and humans.
I've emailed the company to ask them, but who knows when I'll get a reply.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

I agree, I think it is a greater accomplishment to stop eating clay while you still have some. Believe I know I have sniffed my stash of Ghanaian clay about 3 times today lol. But not eaten any :-)! I'm on day 4 now. I can't lie this challenge is tough, but it will be worthwhile, once I'm no longer addicted! Glad to hear about the lady whose step sister conceived Whileneating clay. That gives me hope! I can only pray my chances of eating have not hindered my chances of having children
