I'd like to know more, like how the homeowner could live there and not realize there were so many bees in her porch wall.

There are lots and lots of wild bee hives in Marin. They are truly one of the special wonders of our world. Next time you come across a bee hive take the time to watch them carefully. I am talking bees here, not hornets or yellowjackets. And, if you get stung by a yellowjacket or hornet please don't call it a "bee sting".

Actually the bee population is on the decrease, and Our food supply relies on Them for pollenation.
Last year, if it was'nt for the ants pollenating My crops, I probably would have had the worst harvest in My garden ever.

Info on attracting native bees to your garden:
http://nature.berkeley.edu/urbanbeegardens/

Native bees are not European honeybees. They do not have colonies. There are many species and they are great pollinators.

Because they're numbers are declining at an alarming rate, and we need them for more than just honey. Most of the world's food crops depend on pollination.

That said, let's set the record straight:

"If the bee disappears from the surface of the earth, man would have no more than four years to live. No more bees, no more pollination … no more men!”

...the above quote is thrown around when this topic comes up, as being attributed to Albert Einstein. Truth is, he never said it. Thought I'd throw that out there before another poster tries to use it in their pro-bee argument :)

Doesn't mean the statement isn't true -- just means Al didn't speak it. Most entomologists think we'd have more than four years to live if bees die off. Maybe 5 or 6...

It's a good article, but doesn't tell how to reach David Carlos. I have bees and would like them relocated, soon. They keep multiplying.
