The girls, some with bulging bellies, gathered to chat about sex. They giggled and joked.

Nice Rip, Kim.

They (many with bulging bellies)are abstaining - it must be because they CAN'T have sex, not because they won't.

Physical appearances has nothing to do with this decision - accept and respect (don't name call) their courageous choice in this perverse world.

The bulging bellies are because they are pregnant - not cause they are fat. Duh... read the story.

Anyone take them on a trip to Kenmore or Barberton? Show them the white trash and explain that's your future if you procreate prior to developing your career. Have them read Freakonomics too; it's not about sex being morally wrong, it's about consequences that ruin your life and limit the potential of the children you do have.

Almost all teenage boys have sex... it's just that most of the time they're alone when they have it!

How bout teaching these girls about masturbation? Now that would be truly empowering: given that most females have clitoral--and not vaginal orgasms--these girls could learn how to enjoy sexual contact without penetration, all while decreasing the likelihood of becoming pregnant and/or spreading some STI's.

The story said that the program WAS in Kenmore.

Not that it matters, abstinence programs do not work.

Real sexual education is frowned upon in Christian groups.

i personally love the part blaming cell phones and the internet for making it easier for teenagers to have sex. Give me a break. High schoolers have been fooling around since the dawn of time, i really doubt cell phones are to blame here.

But were STD's this high?
A report released in March by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that one in four girls between 14 and 19 is infected with an STD, including human papillomavirus, which can cause genital warts
and cervical cancer. And the rate is even higher among African-American girls, half of whom are infected.

I agree 100%; but that has nothing to do with cell phones. That has everything to do with our schools being too afraid to teach kids what a damn condom is for fear of religious backlash. These abstinence programs simply DO NOT WORK! What these kids need is to be taught how to be responsible when making sexual decisions BEFORE they get to high school... HERES LOOKING AT YOU PARENTS!!

Ah! Isnt this always the way? Teens, who, since the beggining of time, just want to have a bit of fun, are now being told that feeling HUMAN is wrong. And sex is wrong. And boys are wrong.

Why not just give them protection and send them on their way? Wouldn't that be better than making girls feel guilty about something that comes naturally?

Let them have their fun. You are only young once.

My hat goes off to Karen & Noelle for doing what they can to make a difference with these teenage girls. If this stops one unwanted pregnancy it will be worth it !!!

A great way to help young people understand and promote putity and abstinance. Teaching materials and manuals and products to promote purity and abstinance in a Christian way.

Maybe for a guy....
Not necessarily true for us women, though!
I sometimes shower, followed by getting lotioned
and powdered up. I love feeling soft and silky and smelling good. I then put on a slinky negligee. A nice glass of wine and great music are a must, too. All that makes me feel completely sexy for my most loyal and indulgent partner!
Hey, she's worth it!
