Sure enough.

Let's see, are the schools failing because they are largely filled with black students from bad families where education is not valued, or are the black students in bad families where education is not valued because the schools have been failing them?

I'm pretty confident that this is about black culture not caring enough about education to make sure that their kids GET SERIOUS about learning. They're all wrapped up in making sure to get the latest Nike sneakers, the latest FUBU hats, the biggest, shiniest rims on their piece of s#!t car... No values, no education. No education, crappy life. And then they cry to the government that they don't get a fair shake, and "the Man" is holding them down.

Or perhaps, there are administrators at high schools who are engaging in SEXUAL acts at the school before, during, or after school. The kids know it, the faculty knows it, it is about time they are FIRED. Yes, FIRED. It is WRONG and this is one reason why FHS got ANOTHER D. We need CARING administrators!!
Your response to my post shows me you have no idea what I meant. I did not in any way bring up inappropriate sexual behaviors of school district employees
since that has nothing to do with school grades or my post.

How unfortunate that you only see "black" and "white".
What you are describing is not a "black" culture but a culture fed by years of generational welfare created by impoverished people who lack the educational and social skills to succeed in our society.
We as a nation recognized this need for opportunity by passing legislation, Title I, in 1964.
Unfortunately this hand up was seen as an entitlement to a hand out, and the system has not yielded the benefits as originally envisioned.
If each family receiving these benefits would focus on nurturing and educating their children they no longer would require this assistance and the needs would diminish but instead they have continued to balloon.
We need to find a way to limit successive generational aid and start requiring an accountable end to Title I assistance.

While you certainly are correct that it is not a racial issue but more a socio-economic one, I have to ask you - how does this generational slide end in your mind?
More money does not convince people of any race creed or color that something is worthy. How does one convince those who find education foolish that it is indeed worthy? How does one take our children's eyes off of expensive clothing and tricked out cars and put them back into a textbook?
These are obviously more rhetorical than anything else. As long as JayZ and Paris Hilton are worshipped as gods in our society, it will be a LONG time before education is seen as necessary.

Iwill agree with you to an extent. While I think that the FCAT harms us more than it helps by suggesting that the schools that earn better grades will continue to do so with increased funding based on thier FCAT scores while those that didn't will be penalized for failing grades. What about those whom are enrolled in those failing schools ( is it their choice as to where they live and must go to school? Is it their fault?) I think not. And who's to say if they had updated materials and updated computers and programs in those failing schools that they would not do better? Yes, part of the problem is these kids (some of them) background /home life. However, I am a beleiver that a well equiped class room with tools to entice children would go a lot farther than bare bones classrooms with books that they cannot even take home to study because there aren't enough books to go around! That is totally ludicrus to me -while across town you have kids with 2 sets of the same book-1 to keep in class and 1 to keep at home so their backs don't hurt from having to take the books home each day.How about if we equip these classrooms and begin to idolize the correct role models for these kids. Look at Bill Clinton- he was raised in a single mother home and became President of the United States. Look at Michael Jordan- a black man and the BEST basketball player in history, look at some other people -famous names and faces- they didn't strut around at 13 with $200 sneakers and jump out of a Hummer in the school parking lot. We need to teach our kinds basic admiration of humans for their actions not materials. And that takes everyone not just parents and not just teachers. Like it or not it DOES take the village.and yes, in some kids cases teachers will have to step up for uninvolved parents and vice versa but if most of us are constistant (regardless of social location) it will/could work.

Oh Please,
My post was quoted with your irrelevant writing. I was using Hallelujah as my name at that time.
Your comment was not an initial thread, see post 44. I wonder if you are embarassed; I would be. Perhaps you should be careful about calling someone a moron, generally always and especially when you are WRONG. Have a lovely day.

What is funny here, is that YOU are misunderstanding what is going on. I was just adding on to your post. And yes, thank for the correction...I see where I replied to your post. It was an ADD-ON idiot! I wrote that because I teach for OCPS and personally know TWO administrators who were having an affair and who engaged in sexual behavior before, during, and after school on a daily basis. It was an ADD-ON....NOT a response. YOU are the IDIOT here. Furthermore, if you'd quit changing your screenname like a COWARD, maybe I would have known what the hell you were talking about. It is parents like you who mess up the school system.

First and foremost I'm black, second of all you can all bet your a## that I'm going to college, some of the comments are little racist but doesn't bother me, everyone's a little racist, but it is not the teachers fault, well not all of them, but learning and discipline MUST start at home, because if your child acts like a pile of S*#t at home, you can bet he will be a pile of S%$t in a classroom, my problem with portions of the black community is that they don't value educations and look for a scapegoat as fast as possible, usually the government, but unfortunately for these portions America is tired of it, literally, America's Caucasians, will fire back at any black individual so fast that the black ignorant will have nothing else but to scream racist, but what are they going to do if obama becomes president, they can't blame the government if a Blackman IS the head of said government? it's time for black America to stop complaining, teach their kids value and read a book, and to the racist's on the posts, i never see any of you doing anything about it and only express your racism on these forums where you cannot get a rebuttal, or your butt beat back to winter park

And that relates in what way to schools continually receiving a low grade?
How would that subject correctly fit with my post since I wrote nothing of the topic? While you call me coward,
I bet your name is not Oh Please. I suggest two things for you:1) Go to your nearest library and check out a book on manners.2) See if you can stay on topic. Post again when both
deficiencies are remediated. Have a lovely evening.

YOU need manners. I was adding on to your post, but apparently you cannot read correctly. I WAS on topic and posting from MY perspective. That is the name I continually post under. YOU are the one changing your name to try and fool others apparently. GROW UP. Again, you are an example of a poor parenting which is why there exist D and F schools to begin with. Think before you reproduce again please. Keep your legs closed.

Oh please,Once again, you show you are a very poor debater and need manners. Please be informed as well that

my children have been so successful in school that they are accelerated. I meet with my district's Superintendent and am known to state
officials, which is why I often change my name.
You have shown that you fail to understand my post, perhaps I wrote above your level of understanding. However, the most salient feature
of your writing is that you seem to lack social skills and resort to childish tactics, which would be fine if you are a child.
I hesitate to remind you that you clicked reply to add to my post, thus you responded. It didn't matter whether my name had changed as you stated you started a new thread and that was incorrect. You also fail to use your name so what is the difference? I suppose you fail to use your name
for a far different reason. I am glad my children will not have a teacher with such thoughts as yours.
A few of us were actually having a decent discussion until you entered. I have finished my posts to you at this time. You may resort to your childish antics and again embarass yourself if you so choose. Some folks would try to present themselves as reasonable adults but there are lots of people in the world.

Oh Please's comments are offensive. Unfortunately, some people use on line blogs to hurl insults and crude remarks that would get them quickly dispatched from any school board meeting or other public forum.
At one time a better educated and better mannered class of people dominated the Internet. Now everyone has access. That's how it goes, I guess.

Oh yeah, my comments are SOOOOOOOOOOOO offensive. Please explain yourself. You and "Patience" or whatever that woman's name is, need to figure out what it means to have VALUES. She or IT claims that their children are accelerated. I guess that means in the ESE classes??!! Their parent sure is uneducated....as are you "Chelle."

Chelle,
I hope to join you in other blogs. I have blogged with you elsewhere and before but I change my name often.
I differ in my assessment of you than
our child Oh Please does.
I wish good things Oh Please's way very soon, even before he or she turns 14. Perhaps Oh Please is brighter thanhis/her posts imply. Most 13 year olds I know play videogames endlessly and would not choose to blog on education topics.

I thought you were not going to keep posting you coward??!! Again, take your ESE kids out of OCPS so maybe some schools could earn higher grades...thanks.
