Immaturity, low self-esteem led to pregnancies

It's fascinating that the press and I guess the authorities involved in Gloucester fall on contraception education as the solution to the problem with 17 teenage girls becoming pregnant... through a desire to ...

Wow!! You forgot some pretty simple facts of life,"you play, you pay".
Whatever the outcome from this is Not the responsibility of society.

If you must put the blame somewhere, then look to the parents, and these girls.

Leave me,and my pocketbook alone!!! I,and many others, have our own issues to deal with rather than to listen, and pay for this trash.

When will people take resposibility for their actions? Why do I have to pay just because someone decides that having a baby would be a "cool" thing to do??(showing my age now) when I went to school if you gott pregnant you had to leave school (so as not to embarass the other students) and get your diploma from home under the supervision of the school department.
When did being pregnant become the thing to do

My point is, if children are getting pregnant and we treat it as a nothing event and provide them with day care in the school and babysitting so they can do homework. Are we helping or hurting these young women and their babies, something needs to change and I believe it starts with responsibility

I do agree they make it way to easy for these girls but if there was not any program to help them get through school then they will live off the system for the rest of there lives. They do need to finish school to get a good job. But they should be paying for the daycare that way the girls are learning that to have a baby you must pay for it. I don't mean they should be paying with welfare money they should have a part time job and go to school.

Girls need to keep their legs closed and stop assuming the government will pay for their carelessness.

Were you ever a teenager. Taking away daycare and education WILL hurt them. They were just stupid, and might I remind you that it's not just the young girls who have these children, the fathers are responsible for these children too.

They were STUPID to not use birth control..plain and simple.(which is both parties responsibility)

They basically are.
I brought someone to a dr appointment at Lowell Community Health Center and was sitting in the waiting room. They keep them right on the counter- almost like a candy dish- teeneagers were coming in and taking what they needed.(This was a year ago, don't know if the policy has changed)
At first was a little "put-off" by that idea, but then I said to myself. Better than a baby.....
Beside, I'm sure someone would complain about it....you know Abstinence, abstince, abstinence...the only thing that really works.
