He truly sounded like a great kid (and maybe he was) until you got to this part, "Mario briefly attended Osceola High School but had just finished the semester at New Beginnings, a last-chance school for children with behavioral problems."

Maybe there is more to this than meets the eye.

Yeah he was a child that would fight but he also went to church, he was also very respectful, and he was also love very much by his peers. But tell me something...while you are meeting the eye. During your reach did you find out how much he loved to go to church? Did you find out how well his grades were in school, cause he was very smart? And do you even care that there are his fellow classmates and other close teenage friends and family that is reading this forum? You need to be care what you say. I dont given a darn what school he went to . My son attended Mill Creek Elementary 5 years ago(3rd grade), He was pretty spoiled (ill admit) and he would cry sometimes when he did not get his way but because of that the school system wanted to lable him as a children with a behavorial problem. Now what i need to mention is he too had very good grades but that did not matter to them but thank god for my strength, I refuse to allow him to be labled and put down for just being a child. He is now attended middle school classes and he is a honor roll student but he to will defend himself if needed and it will be grand (without guns). That is the problem with the school system that wheter lable students and ship them off than to offer a positive outlook on the right thing to do and not just give up on your kids so easy. But Mario did not deserve to be gunned down and i dont appreciate your negative comment. I bet you are a teacher who hates her job.

"Give it up" wouldn't by chance allude to money from selling drugs that Mario may have been holding out on them? Nah! Couldn't have been. Yeh! This location is known for street selling so what was a "Good Boy" doing there in the first place if in fact he was trying to straighten out his already screwed up life? I may not be the sharpest ax in the shed, but it's terribly hard to beleive these 4 men went to all this trouble to "Rob" a bunch of kids just standing around a street corner and then add to the equation that they singled this one kid out of the bunch and chased him a block to pop a cap on him, that is really not going to buy a whole lot of sympathy from the general public! The kid stiffed them and they made an example of him, plan and simple.

It all has to be George Bush's fault. I'm shocked that all the bloggers down at the "P" house haven't found some way to tie him and Dick Cheney into this punks death. I mean, gee, are you going to ignore the stick-it note on your monitor to always include Bush's name and "Cheney's" name in every post?

It's funny that every time some kid from the projects gets shot they are always described as a "good kid."

Thugs don't just go around robbing kids in the projects and "good kids" don't get chased and shot. What do good kids carry around that's worth stealing and a cap for good measure?

I do not know this person or his lifestyle, but hanging out with the wrong crowd in the wrong area, or even knowing someone that hangs with the wrong crowd will eventually get you in trouble. And its kinda funny nowaday when we brand a kid to be good when he has a dream to go to college. Shouldnt it be the norm?

WOW, talk about insecurity. Is somebody feeling a little guilty about their support for the Bush/Cheney regime and the damage done to this country. Not a single word was mentioned about those two lackeys and then all of a sudden ...

I don't think it's necessary anymore to point out the disastrous policies of those two failures. All one needs to do is take a look around.

If the Democrats in congress had a collective spine, the two would be on trial for crimes against humanity. Hopefully, they will get their day in court, afforded with more rights and concerns than the very people that they have assaulted.

As for this story, the racists rats always come out of their little cowardly caves. It's called deflection. You know, blame all others for their own shortcomings and failures. "I'm might have amounted to nothing, but at least I'm not like them!"

Economically depressed neighborhoods are ripe for illegal activities and those mired in it are easily drawn into to it. That's a reality that we have created and perpetuated as a society. Should we condone that type of behavior? Of course not. Should we pretend that there are no influential factors that come into play here? Only if we we choose to. Bigots pounce on them.

You can tell by the reaction of the community that there was something special and/or unique about this kid and anyone who refuses to recognize that is being purely transparent: racist!

An what the hell does the " bloggers down at the "P" house" mean? Sheesh, wouldn't therapy be a better way to work through these issues?

How many insecurities can be possibly tossed into one short, unintelligent and completely unrelated paragraph?

I have to ask - if Jones had such a lengthy criminal record, why in the word was he out on the street? Oh yeah, he has "rights.' Until we start putting crminals in jail and keeping them there or, if the situation warrants, executing them, our crime rate will continue to go up. As it is, the bad guys know that even if they're caught and convicted, their chances of doing any REAL time in jail are very slim. What do they have to lose by committing crimes?

Do I need to remind you that he was a 15 year old "boy" with plans for the future? I grew up in a lower class neighborhood and I can honestly say only a small percentage of us made the right choices and decided to further ourselves. Yes, he may have attended a school for children with behavioral problems but did he have a juvenile record? Does this mean that he deserved to be shot in the back of the head by a man 13 years his elder with an intensive criminal background? No, you choose to label the 15 year old "boy" as a thug because his parents could not provide a better environment for him. Some of you on this blog should honestly be ashamed of yourselves. Not that this has anything to do with this situation but be careful with your choice of ignorant words and make sure you know what your children are doing at all times. You can instill the right values in a child but once they become a certain age sometimes they seem to forget and follow the crowd and God forbid your child because the topic of a blog, you may get upset with the ignorant comments you will read about it. Rest in Peace, Mario and disregard the negativity, you were very much loved and will be very much missed. And for the rest of you, I did not even know Mario but I have children of my own and I refuse to allow you to speak of a 15 year old "boy" in this manner. Despite his faults, he did not deserve to die.

Their confusion comes from never helping the cops when it comes to giving information (snitching is bad) and contributing to making their neighborhood safe.
Most won't snitch because it's either their sons or relatives selling dope on the corners.
So now they blame the cops for not raising their kids for them.
They were ALL good boys, as long as they continued to pay the rent & buy groceries with their dope profits..

"Community leaders say they want to add to those activities so young people don't just hang out in the street near the apartments, which have no swimming pool or other amenities for teens."
How about being a real parent and making them study after school, instead of griping about somebody else not spending money to build FUN places for them...
Since when is it everbody elses job to entertain these kids?
==========
I feel bad for the kid that got murdered, but when will the mothers of the ones that murdered this kid going to start taking responsibility for the thugs that they breed?
I had no pool or other amenities either! What did I have? My MOM constantly on my A**!! And you are absolutely right- NO ONE SAW NOTHING!!

No, the problem with the school districts are parents who think their kid (spoiled) can do no wrong and therefore make life miserable for teachers and the other kids in class rather than the parent taking control of the kid and stopping the behavior. It is NOT the teacher's job to raise your child and correct his behavior. How many other kids lost out on classroom learning because the teacher had to deal with your kid? If there was talk of labeling him, he was more than just a minor disruption. If you can't correct the behavior then he's emotionally disturbed, if you can then take control. Nothing worse in a class of 25 kids than to have to deal with kids like that..they disrupt the entire system.

Economically depressed. Is that code now for lazy, unintelligent trash only worried about getting their next fix and next peice of tail and certainly not worried about raising the offspring they breed like rats. I think so

Well Real - Lots of people go to church - some are bad some are not I have no idea about this kid, never claimed to.

And lots of "thugs" are "loved" or "admired" by their peers - no idea about this kid, never claimed to.

I suspect you meant "search" not reach but again I didn't claim to search or "reach".

I have no idea what his grades were, I didn't claim to - I don't even know if an "alternative" school even has the same standards as a "normal" school and it doesn't matter to me.

I doubt the boy deserved to die but I do suspect there is a reason he was singled out, chased and shot. Maybe you hit on it when you said he was prone to fight - maybe he fought the wrong kid.

And innocent kid getting hit by a stray bullet is one thing, getting chased down and killed is quite another. I guess he could have just been the slowest kid...

His life of crime started at 16?! He was on probation when he gunned down another human?! Lock this SOB up and give him Life with Hard Labor!

Our soft justice system is destroying this society. Parents are not responsible for their own actions raising their kids. Kids aren't accountable, adults aren't accountable. Nobody's accountable. It's easier to blame it on society and the government who does nothing to help raise these kids. Shame on all of us.

Start locking violent thugs up and make them work for the very society they terrorized . HARD LABOR. This is a punishment they would hate.

ACLU idiots shut up! These thugs loose their Human Rights when they "Chose" to take away anothers. And they do make a "choice". Hold them accountable for their actions.

We need to hold ourselves accountable. The next time we vote for some soft, "tell 'em what they like to hear" politition, be accountable.
