'Sexting:' More kids sending nude photos via cell phone

I did that a while back, and I found pictures of naked boys (including close ups of their genitals) on my junior-high-aged daughter's cell phone.

Apparently the boys sent them to her and other girls in their class as part of a new age flirting ritual.

So, I reactivated one of my old cell phone THAT DOESN'T HAVE CAMERA/PICTURE CAPABILITY, and THAT is now my daughter's cell phone.

Giving kids phones with camera/picture capability is just asking for trouble.

I was at a friends house the other day when this came up. He has two teenaged daughters. They are 13 and 15. Both have cell phones that take pictures. He was saying that he could not imagine his daughters doing something like this. Teasing at him I said, well you never know anymore. His older daughter came in with a friend just after we had finished talking about it. She said her usual hellos, being polite and what not. She dumped her stuff all over the kitchen table and went up to her bedroom. My friend looks over and spots her cell phone laying in the pile. After some short discussion about whether or not the phone is her private domain, he decided that he couldn't take it anymore and handed me her phone. He said he didn't want to see pics of his daughter if they were on there and requested I go through the pics.
I'll cut to the chase...there were several pics on that phone of her nude. The third pic was of her laying on her bed spread eagle with the camera pointing at the mirror. It was obvious she had taken them of herself. I thought about deleting them and telling him all was clear but I would have had to continue looking through the pics to do this and was already feeling sick to my stomach from what I had seen so far. I stopped going through the pics and told him he needed to talk to his wife about what to do. How does a dad tell his "little princess" that he knows she is taking porn pics of herself? He didn't believe me at first and grabbed the phone. The spread eagle pic was the one on the phone at the time. He sat the phone back on the table, obviously shaken. I left at this point because I had no desire to look her in the eyes after seeing her in all her "naked glory".

I spoke with him a few days later and he had waited for his wife to come home as he didn't want to embarrass his daughter. Embarrass??? I would have killed her if it were my daughter. Anyway, his wife cornered his daughter that night and demanded she hand over the phone. After going through the phone right in front of the daughter his wife also found videos of there daughter shaving herself and masturbating. Jebus cripes...what the heck are kids thinking??? She told them that she had not sent any them to her boyfriend, but who knows. Anyway...I am just glad my son and daughter are both grown now(25 and 29). The worst thing I had to worry about was drugs.
