Teen sex isn't the problem. The problem is sex without a thorough knowledge and understanding of the risks involved and how to avoid them.

There is an entrenched insanity in western cultures, and particularly the US, which says that knowledge of sex is somehow "bad" for younger people. Meanwhile puberty and all of the changes that it brings comes unhindered to every young person.

The result is a nation of young people overcome with sexual desire but with only a vague and clouded understanding of how to handle it.

The result today is the same as it was 100 years ago: teenaged girls get pregnant. Back then the solution was marriage. Today there are no simple solutions.

Sex is not "bad" it is not "wrong" it is not "dirty." It is normal. It is ordinary. It is mundane. It is commonplace. It is not a special subject in need of special handling.

Young people need to be told the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth when it comes to sex. Equip them with the knowledge needed to make good decisions and to manage the risks.

There will still be teenaged girls who get pregnant, but there will be a lot fewer of them.
