At the beginning of this year the school had a dress code. It seems that things may have change since then. Now that thier childern seem to have more of a problem with this dress code.I can also put in here that I know that some students are not following the dress code.Maybe this is the real problem for parents? Whichever maybe the case or what the debate is about the dress code needs to be enforced for the safety of all the students.Showing favortism towards some students over other students will not help this matter. Think about this with the violence in schools not to forget the shootings in some schools. It is in the best interest of the school facilty and students to make sure the dress code is followed until the parents decide to make up thier mind on what brought the debate about after the decision for the dress code.

i feel that we should be allowed to wear whatever we want, just as long as we are getting our education, and if the school feels we should wear certain clothes and where them a certain way they should give us uniforms.....

It`s stupid why we are not allowed to wear hats and belts that hang down, the school thinks if we wear them a certain way we are part of a gang

I think School dress codes are stupid because we should be able to wear whatever we want. I mean there should be a boundry but i feel that in gym glass we should be able to wear shorter shorts and tank tops. It is burning outside ppl! And besides it doesnt hurt anyone.
We also should be able to wear coats because we get cold inside and they dont have heaters to keep us warm inside the school.

Its not right that we can't wear bagy clothes just because pricables and teachers think it might be gang realated. no matter what they do to the dress code they are not going to stop gangs in school. So I agree with Evelin Castro and "gfaow ut76"

yeah, teachers will jump to conclutions like that. But I find the dress code to be completely unfair because some kids won't be in dress code and never get caught, but others will. It encourages the idea "its ok as long as I dont get caught"

my school is implementing a dress code and it's getting heavy critisim.
only thing is...stupid people are running the critisim and everything they say has a counter.
so, a couple of my smart friends and I are pulling a little card called "this is your dress code and look at all of the flaws that it has, because of these flaws you cant implement it" then of course we come in with a petition from the teachers (who are against it....damn admins) and students. At which point the school will suspend us, which means that they are trying to silence us and everything we have said is right and they are wrong and are becoming totalitarian which is anti-democratic and as such we will bring the fact that you are implementing a plan of impressment to turn us into US haters and will bring you to the US govt. for blasphmy...good times...never mess with debaters...we come overprepared...

no one should be discriminated for what they wear BUT you kids don't realize how sloppy and nasty you look in some of these clothes. if i were a teacher, i wouldn't want to go near some of you because you look like you smell bad.

I don't think kids should be made to wear uniforms either. You are being quite nasty and disrespectful. School uniforms are really impractical - jeans and a sweater are much more practical for kids. School uniforms are expensive and uncomfortable and mark out the rich kids from the poor ones.

i think that unless schools honestly do have gang fights due to clothing-related issues, then students reserve the rights to wear clothes that are not excessively against the school policy. There are no statistics arguing that students work better academically when they wear slacks and a tie. Uniforms should be abolished in public schools, and dress codes need slack altogether.

please explain how a UNIFORM (think about the meaning of the word) will "mark out" rich kids from poor kids? i work in a childrens boutique and uniform pants are less expensive than a pair of Levi jeans. we have walmart, k-mart, target and every other discount store to get blue, khaki and white clothes from. disrespectful to whom? kids who don't want to look decent while atteding school or disrespectful to parents who allow their children to leave the house looking grimey and unkempt?

you are right, there are no statistics proving uniformed kids are smarter but there are statistics showing that when kids are on an even playing field as far as dress is concerned, there is less peer pressure issues, bullying, fights, etc. my kids happen to be very stylish and not in an overly expensive way BUT i will even admit that both of their teachers treat them quite differently than kids who just throw on jeans and a shirt. that is not fair on those other kids
