1) Mr. Schnell, responsible dad, should also be put behind bars.

2) He is obviously as dim as a dead light bulb -messy house, means things out of place a bit, not filled with sewage and flies. Idiot. Poor kids
It's curious to me why the child didn't tell the father about this until I read your post...

I feel so sorry for those children. Hopefully, they inherited the intellegence DNA helix that goes back generations...

Didn't they live in Lindenhurst last year? I seem to remember a similar story.

I read the article in the paper. I agree sewage in the basement, black water in the tub and no bed for the kids goes way beyond a "messy house". The department of health condemned the property as it is not fit for human beings.

She has definitely got a screw loose.

I hate to be the one with a slightly different opinion, but we all can't be perfect in every way. Some kids living in the cleanest homes have the sickest parents. Filth and squalor are signs of a mental illness or other type of disfunction. The woman needs help, not to be in jail. If you think these kids are going to be better off in foster care, think again.

All right, but how about the fact that the kids hadn't eaten for a week? Don't you think she should go to jail for that?

This mother obviously suffers from depression. Depression causes a person to make irrational decisions, such as not using her paycheck first and foremost to feed her children. Depression also causes a person to ignore serious/life threatening problems, the person will not admit they have lost control over their life.

So yes, this parent needs mental assistance. This is why we have children-support services, to address situations like this, where a parent's depression is so severe that their children suffer. The children should be removed from the parent's custody while this parent undergoes mental therapy to get their depression under control. Allowing a bad situation to continue is never the answer and only further victimizes the children.

At least ONE of the fathers was fighting for custody, the state failed to allow him to get it.....that is HIS fault?
This "mother" needs to be sterilized, or hung.
I don't believe the State failed to allow the Father custody - HE failed to prove himself. Bottom line is ALL of the Adult Parents involved are unfit and ALL need to be sterilized and hung!

If I had to choose between foster care and living in a home that has been declared to be unfit for human beings to live in, I think I would rather take my chances with foster care. Animals at the zoo were living better than these kids.

It isnt in other countries...here as well. Many couples can not have children of their own and would take these kids whom are abused in a heartbeat....very sad. Just cause you can have kids doesnt mean you should.
...and 5!!! if you know you cannot financially support children or give them the love they need, dont have that many or dont have any at all.
end the hate
