If the taxpayers are stupid enough to allow a public employee to be so completely overpaid, well it is their money. Unfortunately most of the school children who attend those public schools mentioned are from households paying little or no property tax, therefore the parents really dont care. I know any number of well qualified people who will take those positions at half the price and do a much better job at operating the school districts.

Huh? Bongo, you're Bonkers.
I pay $11,000 a year in property tax, and have a child in the district. All but one child in his class owns a single family home and, therefore, pays property taxes. Now, speaking out of your a$$ is another issue, but engaging an anonymous internet troll like you is a waste of time and diminishes us all. |

Hey, I pay my fair share of taxes, and moved here knowing it wouldn't be cheap. I'm happy that the superintendent got her contract, which is pretty average for the county and under average for the state. There are plenty of examples of "cheaper" labor screwing up their districts, and a couple of local supes who get paid more yet cost their districts millions in gross mistakes. Last I checked Magistro administered the building of three new facilities, including a new middle school, while staying on budget and on time. Compare that to Monroe's Ralph Ferie--who gets paid a lot more than Magistro--who has singlehandedly bungled the building of their new high school. A building that was supposed to cost $80 million is now estimated to cost $150 million. Hmmm...from my calculations, having an adminisrative leader like Magistro equals tens of millions in saved tax dollars. Works for me and my friends who ALL voted for the budget. Too bad too many others decided to sit on their rear ends rather than support their kids education (and, ironically, pay hundreds MORE in fees for programs that would have been paid for by the district had the budget passed).

Bonkers seems to be hung up on the "public employee" issue.
Would Bonkers hold government employees to LOWER standards than those holding equivalent positions at private firms? Obviously no talented person is going to take a lower salary to work in a government job if a higher paying position is available elsewhere. So we would then be left with those who cannot work elsewhere, turning our town's school system into something much like Newark's--or even neighboring New Brunswick. Pay for performance, and there's ample proof Magistro has performed to her pay grade. |

Let it be known that Makeadeal writes under various names. He is also Momof3 and EBRules.
You don't fool anyone! You think by posting under various names, with the same agenda, you'll get your point across. How pathetic. He does this on the NJ.com forum also. You'll see the exact same rantings. |

Just a point of explanation for all you new to the discussion: A raving lunatic on the NJ forums--who has no less than a dozen names there ranging from Townhall to iam to RiverRat to egirls (yeah, he crossdresses) and many more--chose the name NewarkSmells.
Odd name, especially since skinheads, redneck southerners and neonazis like to say that black people "smell funny." Our crazy forum participant isn't talking about political smells--Trenton is the source of such stenches--and there are more corrupt towns than Newark (Pleasantville, where their whole school board is going to jail, comes to mind). So what other "Smells" can he be referring to about this primarily black city? Well, ladies and gentlemen, he admitted to his racism and laughed. |

lower our taxes!!

by cutting the Taj Mahal the fire department is building.
What business do they have taking $6 million to address what could have been managed by a few roofing shingles? The FD are tax thieves. How about the 90 EB cops who get paid more than $100,000 in base salary for performing meter maid and utility babysitter duties? We could save millions there. Yes, we can lower our taxes by cutting needless services and bloated bureaucracies like the FD and PD. |

also, cut magistros salary

Magistro is still underpaid. She should be paid based on the performance of her district, so she should be in the top 60 in the state rather than merely average for Middlesex.
I think I'll start a campaign to give her a financial bonus. |

Magistro got her contract.
I wanted that to happen. I won. You have to deal with her until 2013. Bwahahahaha!!!! |

Ah, when logic and reason fail you, go right for character assassination. You must be republicans.
Confidence and capability seem like arrogance to the inept and slow-witted. |
|
|
...and you forgot that success seems like arrogance to utter failures.
Guess the Magistro haters have plenty of those in their lives. |
