I am not Kyrgyz. But I did find it rather odd when I was there last year that some Kyrgyz people don't speak Kyrgyz! My wife used the term "russified" for them. A resurgence of historical languages among the population usually brings people closer to their own cultures, so I think it would be a good thing in terms of national identity. At the same time, the close and continuing links with Russia would mean that Russian would probably have to remain an important second language.

A kyrgyz being able to speak Kyrgyz doesn't mean that he/she is educated, cultured and a nice person. Kyrgyz people were getting a proper education thanks to Russians and Russian language. So it is stipud and unwise to say that Kyrgyz language is more important than Russian. In Kyrgyzstan if you speak only Kyrgyz you will never get a decent job. Russian and ENGLISH are eccential.
So Almaz Albanov, do you remember Kyrgyz yourself living in Canada? Maybe you will open Kyrgyz language classes for kyrgyz people living over there in Canada? You will make a fortune! Oh, please, don't tell me you've got Ottawian accent speaking Kyrgyz. |

What is with you all? Gaining on me LOL! I do agree that Education is the only thing we gained from russian's regime and there are no Kyrgyz here though!

Education is the only thing? Sounds like you don't need one. Education and Civilization, dear. Where is now them who cannot speak proper Kyrgyz never mind Russian are ruining everything smart that was created by Russians, Germans and Jews in Kyrgyzstan during Soviet Union times. |

LOL, I believe we were civilized before the Russians regime took over, doesn't mean that you can't understand our ways of life, that we are less civilized! You speak as have lived during those times(when Russians invaded Central Asia!) Sadly you speak like typical Russian!
PS: What is with you using the word "dear," sounds like you are female in her early 50's. |
