Many tweens involved in abusive relationships

Levkoff is correct. This sort of "education" should be taught at home. Along with a lot of other "subjects" that, as parents, we have given over to the public school system.

I agree. If these teens see their "mom" getting abused by whoever than that's all they know. THey think it's OK. Kick their Arrrrssss girl. Don't take that bull from anybody. He hits you once you better hit him back 3 times.

"We need to start talking to our kids about how to feel good about ourselves, how to feel empowered and how to take a stand," said Logan Levkoff, author of "Third Base Ain't What it Used to Be.""
Get the hell out of here! It's this ridiculous thinking that has created the "youtube" generation. It's all about me Me ME! Kids are ingrained with the idea that they are special. If they don't like something, they don't have to do it. And it's idiot liberals who try and suppress religious values and school discipline, that further cause this lazy mindset. |

Yeah help the Tweens!!!

1 Please be aware that regardless of how good of a parent that YOU are, that your children are surrounded by kids that were raised by OTHER parents. Being aware of the prevalence of Teen Dating Violence is one way to mitigate some of the risk that your children face; another is to become aware of some of the Warning Signs of an abusive relationship; and then to share these warning signs with the teenagers in your life. Many abusers prevent their boyfriend/girlfriend from spending time with their friends or family. A teen may see this as a loving gesture but is in reality very controlling behavior. As a teenager in their first relationship, how are they to know that this isn't a healthy relationship? It is up to parents to educate their children but it will take teachers, administrators and legislators to truly affect change and protect our youth. DITTO,MY daughter was in an abusive relationship too, and thank god she is out of it, cause I stepped in, looked for info in room, listened to the arguments and he's gone.He was a big guy too, but confronted him and told him, if you mess with my kid again, you'll pay.Parents can't be afraid to talk to there kids, and don't ever think, not my kid, even if have a great relationship. Kids can get brainwashed into thinking , they deserve it or I can change them.So parents, keep on top of things with your kids, look through room, cell anything, you have the right. You'd rather be none as the nosy Mom, then the Mom who lost a child because she didn't do anything. |

Drew sorry for your loss,,,,,now back to subject,,,,,,,,,
Who lets there 11-14 y/o date? You do not let it happen, this does come down to patenting, and I do have a 13 y/o daughter who does not date, been mentioned but is not allowed at all,,get involved with your family and this will rarely happen |

THANK YOU THERESE. Today's generation of parents often (I'm saying "often", not "always", people.) turn their responsibilities over to the schools until, something goes wrong. Then, we SUE the school! Remember the parents in Clinton? Kid brings homemade weapon to class. Kid gets arrested. Parents sue school. If today's parents stopped trying to be cool, and actually PARENTED THEIR CHILDREN, many of these issues may (again, I'm saying "may") be quelled somewhat. |

Where are these 11-14 year olds having sex and being abused? They should be supervised at home. If they are at school, the teachers are supposed to take over and looks for signs of abuse. People need to get a little more strict. I think some of the issue is that parents do not take the time to actually talk to their kids anymore. They need to spand their conversations outside of How was your day today.

I work in a middle school, and lots goes on that parents have no clue about, ages.9-13.Keep tabs on them.Nosy in their room, cell phone checks. And at that age they shouldnt have cell phones anyways.Yes Mom,Im at Nancy's, sure you are.Parents probably have no clue there kids are dating, cause they have so many jobs to keep there head above water. So if that the case, do what we do, 1 parent is always around as you work around each others schedules, we did it, and so can others.
