It saddens me to think this omce wonderful school has been left to poor condition. When will the people of York awaken to intelligent solutions? Acquire and spend the money to bring this building to code and use it. Do not make the mistake of false progress. Look at downtown. How much was spent there to "beautify" the streets and "cut crime" in the area? The narrow streets and jammed traffic killed downtown businesses. When I come home to visit, I avoid downtown and my beloved visits to Central Market.

Any change of use would require the building to be brought up to code and would probably negate the "grandfathering." Many others in the country have been converted to medical facilities, condos, offices for school board/administration, etc. This is obviously the result of short sighted budgeting for years allowing the facility to slowly "decay."

The building needs HVAC work and a new roof, the classrooms are not large enough and would need to be expanded to meet current standards, some changes would be necessary to improve handicap accessibilty. The buildings construction is solid and it's a shame that this school district has been underfunded for so many years forcing it to delay needed upgrades and potentialy leading them to stop utilizing this school that is located in a safe neighborhood.

A rooming house? Are you kidding me? That would raise hell, trying to convert PD into a rooming house.$5 million is a drop in the bucket for a school district. New schools are being built all the time for 40-70 million dollars. You would think that as PC as schools are, they would do something environmentally correct and refurbish old buildings instead of building new ones. Much less damaging to the environment.

Daily Horoscope for December 29

Sagittarius

It's difficult to keep your mind on what you're doing today because it keeps wandering off in all directions. There won't be much you can do about this except to be aware of it, and preferably to postpone doing anything very complicated or important until you're less distracted and absent-minded. Unfortunately, you won't get very far with it at the moment.
