only an Idiot would vote NO to something that is legal, and to think that kids would be influenced by seeing alcoholic beverages in stores. It doesnt work that way

Getting ready to clean up my Facebook of certain people that are supporting the wet vote. Everybody does have there own right to vote ever how they please but why on earth set and down other that are standing up for whats right? For what the Bible tells us. I think it's total disgusting to see a mother post some of the things that she has on Facebook. I have really tried to ignore the ignorance but it's finally went a little to far when christian people are being put down. Matter of fact this lady and her husband are business owners. Maybe both of there business can be supported by the Methodist alone. I'm totally sick of her opinions.

I know a lot of people are not for it, but we need a change in this town. Just think if it does go wet. We will have restaurants to come in this town and that's jobs for people. We might be able to get other things in this town and those things don't have to do anything with alcohol. People will think ok this town is growing and I think my business is going to do well here. Going wet is not a bad thing. Some people know how to drink responsibly and some don't and that's the only down fall. You don't want your kids to see to see alcohol signs and such, well it happens everyday. When you take your child to Lexington or Richmond. You see everywhere and kid that go to school see it. For god sakes you go to apple-bees in Corbin it's all over the place. It's not a bad thing, it will open doors for other thing to be put in this town and other things for our kids to do. Yeah this town may sell alcohol, but if there was more things in this town to do they would be doing that instead of going to BFE and have a party. That's my opinion on this situation and others my have there and that's fine because we have the right to voice our opinion. Thanks for your time.

This post is very telling. First of all, it tells me some woman has a strong personality and doesn't care if you agree with her. Your post is also very telling in that you've probably had a chance to contact this woman personally, but instead you chose this venue to unleash your bitterness and obvious contempt. You came to Topix to take a cheap shot at someone as a mother because their opinion is opposite of yours, correct? Is it possible that unlike this woman, you don't have the guts to speak your peace directly to her? You say she put down Christianity(which I have a hard time believing if theres some association with the Methodists)yet with your post here on Topix you have gone against everything Christians are supposed to represent.

Are business owners not supposed to have opinions? I've seen many businesses with dry signs on their property. Are you suggesting that it's okay to have an opinion as long as it's parallel to your opinion? I feel like this was another cheap and cowardly shot and a true Christian would not stoop so low.

After reading the article, The woman from Michigan said when she moved back here it was like going back 40yrs in time! Everyone is entitled to a opinion but I really think this is a degrading remark against Knox County, I thought this place was trying to grow with progress, jobs, etc. I try to voice my opinion on certain problems that I have a ideal about, if you run a business and you stand your ground, right or wrong in your mind, YOU will lose business!!!

I Think personally that it would help our community get more money.. & they need to use the money on something to make this place better instead of pure shit!! and thats all im saying! I really dont give a fuck what anyone else says but some christian people are a bunch of hypocrits!! that needs to get a life!! & stay the fuck outta everyones business!! Disagree Or Agree I Really dont care!!! For a matter of fact everyone wonders why barbourville is put down to shit well it's because we dont have jobs.. think about people who are jobless in this community!! being wet would bing in restraunts and more people will have a job!! Everyone needs to get a life and think bout the positive instead of the negative!!!
Thank You

A lot of people that are "jobless" in the community have been raised on welfare & really do not want to work! How is making alcohol legal gonna make them want to work?? If anyone thinks that making b'ville wet will HELP the community, think again! There will be more accidents, more hospital visits, more fights over nothing, & God forbid more alcohol-related deaths. If anything needs to be brought into this community it's the Lord Jesus Christ! Then & only then will there be a change for the good! He is the positive & alcohol is the negative no matter how you look at it!
Thank You!!

Corbin went wet and just look at what has happened involving that place called Angels and Wings. It has been in the news numerous times for drunken brawls, illicit conduct, and even a kidnapping which led to murder.

Exactly how many alcohol related deaths has Barbourville had in the past 10 years? Where is your evidence that newly wet cities have more accidents, hospital visits, fights over nothing and death. That must be your uneducated opinion, because every statistic I've seen shows a DECREASE in accidents/disturbances/deaths related to alcohol when an area goes from dry to wet.

Please, by all means, feel free to back up any statements you make on here with some facts and statistics instead of trying to scare people.

By the way, not everyone believes the way you believe. Stop forcing your religion down the throats of others, and worry about the sin in your own life.

I apologize if you think I'm trying to scare you, cause I'm not. The only "facts" that I have this moment are what I have experienced before I was saved. I have seen family members fight each other over nothing except that they were all drinking. Accidents, I have seen a few & been in a few. We were all lucky we didn't die! Granted there are a few people who can handle drinking, but the majority cannot. As for religion, I wouldn't shove that down anyone's throat! Religion is taking God's word & twisting it to our own understanding. I have been saved for a few years now & I don't drink, don't want to. I believe in Christianity not religion. Why would I want to force Christianity on anyone? Even Jesus Himself gives us a choice. But I do like to share what He has done for me & where He has brought me from!! I'm sorry if you feel like I was forcing anything on you...maybe that's something you can think about. God is good!! That's truth & the truth will stand long after this world is gone. Question for you - besides new jobs (maybe) what other positive thing can you say about alcohol?

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Sagittarius

You're feeling ultra optimistic today, which is great for summoning up the necessary energy to do what has to be done. But don't let it go to your head and convince you that you're capable of performing miracles. If you aren't behaving in this way you'll have to cope with someone who has a swollen head and thinks they're the cat's whiskers.
