Adoptive Parenting Increases with Same-Sex Couples

"Curiously, the proportion of same-sex couples raising children has begun to decline. In Census 2000, more than 17% of same-sex couples were raising children. That proportion peaked at 19% in 2006 and has declined to 16% in 2009."

IMHO this is not because we are adopting at a lesser amount than before, but rather that there is just a growing number of same-sex couples willing to identify and to marry. Naturally, when the pool gets larger, the percentage will be smaller. Over time it will level out as we get Marriage Equality in all 50 states. And we will.

I fully agree. Also I don't think straight men should be allowed to adopt little girls and straight women should not be allowed to adopt little boys.

Any adult that can provide for a child properly should be allowed to adopt.

Those who oppose gay parenting ignore science as well as common sense reality. Real life rarely lives up to the fantasy of straight parents always being ideal.

Millions of children from a home that has a mom and a dad are beaten, tortured, abused, and eventually discarded if not murdered. Having a mom and a dad is no guarantee of having a loving, nurturing home.

Because many straight couples have unwanted, unplanned children, many of those children are far worse off that if they had been born into or adopted by a same sex couple who wanted, planned and prepared for the child.

Utah, Arkansas, Arizona, and The Catholic Church, do not allow children to be placed with gay couples at all. Using public tax dollars, this policy would prohibit placement with a gay relative of a child even when the relative and their partner are highly trained and experienced in child development and child care, while custody could be granted to two strangers to the child, who have no formal education or experience, simply because they are straight.

When a highly trained relative with a highly trained partner would be denied in favor of untrained strangers, you know such policies about punishing gay people, not providing the best home for the child.

Perhaps your friends are no more educated than you. Your screen name brings up all sorts of questions.

Science does not support the lies you have been fed by anti-gay, religious based hate groups which masquerade as scientific organizations. You will find many of your heterosexual friends have been molested as well, while most gay people will tell you they were not. But the number of people who have been molested is unacceptably high. It does not however determine a persons sexual orientation.

Would you rather those kids spend their lives in group homes and a series of foster homes with no stable adult influences and nurturing? If you ask the kids, they will tell you they prefer a stable home even with two same sex parents.

And while I cannot predict the future of the world, you should know every generation since Jesus if not before, has promoted the idea the world would end in their lifetime. My neighbor is in a group that has predicted the exact date 5 times so far and they have been wrong 5 times. The message there though is that you should treat others as you want to be treated, and do it today, before it is too late.

Matthew 7:12,: So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets.

Thats the only way they can have kids.
