Here is what I want. Do not hold any more Pro Choice lunches
like you do in your current Church with huge signs making a mockery of what a real Church stands for. Oh wait and then put it on TV. Calling it a community building does not fly either.

And what exactly does a "real church" stand for? Truth, justice and the American way? Your way or the highway? Oh yes, they ARE called preachers for a reason.

There are plenty of other churches that you can go to listen to Pro Life rhetoric.
I'm happy that this church is opening it's doors to the community beyond they're own members. It's also very refreshing to see a church focus on the positive things they can do rather than telling people who they should hate.

I pray that this does not become another COPA church. We want an honest place of worship, not a cover for a political agenda.

And if it is an honest church, then I wish them well and applaud their greeniness.

What a really eco aware and eco friendly environment , The fact that its a church is great and all the parishioners of that church are to be commended for being so pro active on this issue :):):)

I wish more and more buildings and complex's here were able to step in this direction , But some one has to be the pioneers and this church is just another pioneer here in our area that is showing all of us a better way :):) Really neat story :):)

Carl Pope
Executive Director of the Sierra Club

California has finally legalized the practice of using household gray water water -- but only a good twenty years after I became a serial felon for watering my garden with it during the last major drought. Unfortunately, almost none of the commercial and public buildings I frequent have simple water-conservation technologies installed.

There is no serious talk about reengineering urban areas as sponges. Instead we continue to guarantee water shortages by treating the the urban landscape like a roof and gutter, designed to get rid of (instead of soak up) precious rainfall.

How do they know it's the first green church? I'm sure there are other organicially green churches. Do they mean "certified" green? Just curious.

It IS a COPA church. There goes the neighborhood.

"our connections with COPA and the Live Oak Family Resource Center until our new green church is completed on 17th Ave."

And they advocate for low income high density housing projects built by RDA and RDA-affiliated developers:

"Special House Meeting 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Come and participate in a meeting to discuss the housing crisis in Santa Cruz County. Barbara Meister of COPA will facilitate with Pastor Michael Love."

Shame on you UMC.

Christian churches are failures, and losing their congregations. No wonder 3 of these combined. They are turning themselves into "community" oriented centers, renting out space, selling coffee, etc. fundraisers, and all this is against the IRS policy concerning non-profits. If these churches are going to run like business, then they need to pay taxes like the rest of us.

The real green thing to do is not build it at all.
They have three perfectly good buildings.

You cannot be a Christian and support abortion.

The problem with COPA churches is that, contrary to what they claim, they don't advocate for the community. They advocate based on a predetermined agenda for high density, government subsidized housing projects for their developer buddies.

They don't care what the neighbors want. COPA demanded that a 300-unit low income housing project be built on Par 3. The neighbors were united in their opposition. COPA didn't care.

Aptos COPA members went all the way to Felton to demand that a 60-unit low income housing project be built on a wetland meadow on which previous owners were forbidden to build. COPA new NOTHING about development costs or environmental sensitivity of the site. COPA did not care about the neighbors concerns.

One wonders COPA followers are brainwashed. Because they most certainly are not informed.

I agree that the green thing would be to not build. If they already have existing buildings, why not have a park there? Wouldn't that be greener?

Congratulations on the green effort! I don't care what else you stand for because you see as an American I have the right to choose what I want to believe, and so do you! Why can't the public live and let live as they say they want to? No, they want to criticize one belief and push their own agenda, whether it be abortion rights or what have you. Really? How vastly American of them. Personally I feel the community is so very lucky to have believers who are proactive and welcoming! Get off your HIGH horses critics and appreciate what this church brings! God Bless them (and even you who are so intent on bashing)!

COPA haters .. you can take leave now. That is unless you have a better way! This article is about a new green church/community building in our town. Can we use praise instead of opinions on a completely other subject. At least say something productive!

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Aries

One of the family needs plenty of love and attention today, but the trouble is that you may not be able to spare the time. If so, you'll be consumed with guilt and self-reproach, and this may become so strong that it casts a blight over the day. So do what you can to let them know you're thinking about them, but resist the temptation to berate yourself over things you can't change.
