Weird maybe, but not gross.

There was huge controversy this week over an upcoming Time Magazine cover. The issue is due out May 21st and shows a woman breastfeeding her 3-year-old child.

The WHO recommends "2 years of age or beyond." However, I do think she should be pumping and then giving her child the milk at his age.
That's a "Westernization", if you will; in some parts of the world, breast milk is the primary source of protien for children under five - and those parts of the world don't have breast pumps. It's not un-heard of for Amish women to breast feed up to age four or five. Maybe if we stop thinking that breasts are sex toys and start remembering their actual function, the sight of a woman breast feeding a child would stop shocking folks.(And while I think "breast is best", I have no qualm with anyone who feeds their child formula or evaporated milk; you do for your child what works best for you.)

Not surprising, the cover showed very Gross bad taste
- no pun intended

But the
gay prez article wasn't bad, in fact most Americans believe the title has a very lot of truth in it

The only way I could possibly condone this is if my mother was hot.

Thanks to this goofy broad publicizing her sick attachment to her kid, even showing him on Tv, this boy is going to catch hell when he starts school and the older he gets the worse it will get. Why would anyone put their child in a situation like that?
That is insanely stupid...how on earth, would any other kid in school, connect him to a magazine cover?.....many kindergartners reading TIME, these days?...lol...

In America, a child that old is a big deal, in other countries, maybe not so much....especially the poorer ones...

If breastfeeding is for "poorer" people, what is best for "richer" people? about 90% of the personility is made upto 5 years of age, and then the child will know his/her mother. If we do not remember our mother's lap and love, what kind of a family we are going to raise? moreover, it is good for immunity and health, too.
I think that they were just saying that it is more common in poorer countries or places because it is inexpensive. Which is odd, because in our country the people who have the time to devote to round the clock nursing tend to not be poor.

In Africa for instance, a lot of children stay on their mother's breast milk because it is the most nutritious meal they will get.....

Prolonging breast feedin to the point he climbs up on a chair to stand and reach the breast when he could be drinking out of a cup retards both his physical and emotional development.
Not to mention the ridicule this photo will subject him to later in life as this is exploiting a child by the mother and media for this photo.
Gee, I can't wait to see what they do for Father's Day!!!
You just used the 2 terms that aren't in the liberal vocabulary - independence and self-sufficiency. Therein lies the problem.

I fully support breastfeeding... Unless the child is SCHOOL-AGE or older. That woman needs her son taken away from her for that kind of perversion. SICK.

Not for nothing but wouldn't a child that old really hurt? I mean, this isn't an undeveloped little babys mouth sucking on those yabos, this is a much stronger mouth.....The mom must have nipples of steel.

America has lost it's mind to reality tv!

Nothing would have been said had this been a baby and no one disses breast feeding!

What people get upset about is the in- appropriate way it is done and I don't care what authority you consult, breast feeding a 3yr. old male child is not good! He or she should be weaned and to stand in public or at a resturant and nurse is in-appropriate! there should be some dignity as well as sensible solutions to where you should feed your baby and young toddler!
America instead of being intelligent is now being stupid! All of this is BS and those who still breastfeeding kids at age 3 is just as retarded as it looks! Hope the mother got paid well for her hour of fame! She looks quite foolish and we all know she did it for what it is BS!
