Not true. If that is the case then you can say that most of the Bush debt was Clinton debt and so on.
In fact much of the Bush debt was paid for by a significant rise in GDP during the time he was in office. That is why the national debt as a percentage of GDP was not much higher when Bush left office than it was when Clinton left office.
The large bank bailout that Bush put together at the end of his term has been mostly repaid so that none of it is reflected in the national debt that the Obama administration has wrung up.
Totally 100% wrong. You have no clue. Typical republican wanting to blame someones else for their failures.

1) You said there was "no evidence" that wealth was being re-distributed from the poor and middle class to the wealthy due to our current tax code and policies. My point addressed that specifically. Now your taking my statement and claiming it's "envy" and features "less reality". Which makes no sense, at all. Do you acknowledge the FACT that the income disparity between the wealthiest 1% is greater than any time since the Great Depression, or do you not?
2)Is that why Mitt Romney pays 13.9% in taxes on an income of $11 million, which he did nothing whatsoever to earn (it was paid out of a blind trust), yet someone making $190K pays 33% on their salary? And why do you talk about "the percentage of all taxes" the wealthy paid going up, as if it's relevant, yet ignore the fact that the growing income disparity gap causes it? That's nonsensical, and devoid of reason.
3)REALLY? "No one's talking about the EITC"?? Is that why you and every other conservative boob parrots the notion about "50% of Americans paying no income tax", and pols from Romney to Bachmann to Ryan to Boehner saying that the poor "need to get some skin in the game" on taxes? Your position lacks credibility. And BTW-- I have never taken a single dollar in assistance, in my life. So you've NEVER bought me anything. Welfare is not a Democratic phenomenon. LOTS of poor conservative red-staters get it, too.
4) Wait. You failed to acknowledge this one, altogether. Didn't bother to address that the Bush tax cuts were WRITTEN TO BE TEMPORARY, because they knew if they were extended the deficit would skyrocket. So what happened, Genius? Why is it fair to keep letting the rich pay less, and get more... while WE all pay for their tax breaks, in the form of $750 BILLION of new debt that goes onto the deficit. You've never bought ME a damn thing-- but you are continuing to pay for that extra 3.6% that people like Romney, Buffet, Soros, etc. all get. Try a dose of reality.
I will say it again. There is no evidence that the rich have taken income from the middle class. The US economy saw the greatest expansion that any economy has seen in the history of the world during the last 30 years. The US has dominated the expansion of the world's economy and had derived tremendous total wealth from it as new wealthy was created. If the rich have a larger percentage but the total is also much greater why did it have to come from the middle class? If our middle class is rich...and it is the richest middle class in the history of the world how does it matter that rich people have more. Why do you care what someone else has as long as you have enough? Why aren't you blessed by the fact that the top ten percent of all income tax payers pay 70% of all the taxes?

Your perspective is not honest. If you had ten million dollars in the stock market and it made a million dollars in dividends would you be arguing that the dividend tax should be higher? Especially since dividends are distributions of corporate cash on which the corporations already paid 39% in income tax?

Of course you wouldn't. You are singing a song of envy whether you want to admit it or not.

Wealth over the years has been redistributed from the middle class to the wealthy through bribing members of congress to write special interest policies and tax codes for them. Tax loopholes and subsidies are a few of the many special interest policies and tax codes to favor the wealthy.

You are just completely incorrect again! you are feverishly and desperatlely trying to throw in the kitchen sink in a feigned effort to rehabilitate your pathetic image on accuracy and truth in these forums. I'm surprised you didn't include Vermont's onerous alcohol taxes or the cigarette taxes.

*Federal tax...in Vermont, it is less than 20% OVERALL RATE for the top 1% of filers -- NOT 35%-- Nationally, it is 22%.

*Vermont income tax...the TOP TAX RATE is ACTUALLY 8.95% BUT is ALL deductible against FEDERAL INCOME TAXES as an ITEMIZATION. Vermont also pegs the tax rate to FEDERALLY taxable income.

According to Forbes:

$250K Income earners, Vermont does NOT RANK in the top ten:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/ashleaebeling/201...

$500K Income earners, Vermont ranks #8:
http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mjh45ehed/no-8...

$1,000,000 Income earners, Vermont ranks #7:
http://www.forbes.com/pictures/mjh45ehef/no-7...

*Vermont local property tax averages 2%, at least in Burlington, Vermont:

*Home valued at $2 million with homestead exemption

*Property Tax Calculation
-Municipal Taxes 0.7280 x ($2,000,000 / 100)$14,560.00
-Education Taxes 1.3019 x ($2,000,000 / 100)$26,038.00
*Total Property Taxes $40,598.00

*Vermont Fuel Taxes is $0.2613 cents per gallon which is added to the Federal Fuels Tax rate of $0.184 cents per gallon, or a total of $0.4453 cents per gallon. This is not the highest in the US.

*Vermont Sales Taxes are 6% and is certainly NOT the highest.

**This tax calculator for Burlington Vermont shows that my property taxes in Texas are higher by 5% calculated by value which is how most property is taxed. But I am a realist and I know that a shack in Vermont on 1 acre is likely valued at $300K where it would be $30K here.

Our typical sales tax in Texas is 8-8.25%. We have no state income tax. If you moved to New Hampshire, you could enjoy no state income taxes but YOU choose to bitch about it here. http://www.burlingtonvt.gov/CT/propertytax/ca...

If you're living in Vermont, then it is YOUR FAULT. Our FOCUS was on FEDERAL TAX BILLS for individuals. Next, you'll whine about medical bills or some other non-germaine crap. In all of your whining about taxes, you FORGOT to mention that VERMONT has the 7th HIGHEST MEDIAN INCOME in the nation.

MSNBC shows many of the northeastern states, including Vermont, with some of the highest taxes in the nation.

According to the latest FORBES article on this issue, the AUTHOR left this comment at the bottom:

"Vermont is a high tax state, but it does not make our top 5 Biggest City Bites list, where a couple earning $1 million would pay the highest state and local income tax bill (the rankings start with the highest effective rate as No. 1). However, we did mistakenly leave Vermont out of our slideshows of the top 10 worst tax states for millionaire earners (Vermont comes in at No. 7, with an effective rate of 7.84%) and the top 10 worst states for $500,000-a-year earners (Vermont comes in at No. 8, with an effective rate of 6.8%). We’ve added Vermont to those slideshows, featured to the left of the main story."
http://www.forbes.com/sites/ashleaebeling/201...

YOU have the FREEDOM to choose to live in one of four other states or another country that are within an hour's drive of Rutland Vermont:

-New Hampshire
-Maine
-Massachusetts
-New York
-CANADA

No one is forcing YOU to live in VERMONT and you could have escaped most of this purported misery by simply living in New Hampshire. Ironically, YOUR POST complained of VERMONT taxes even though it showed the IP origin in "HINSDALE, NH" which is really funny because it is ONLY 20-30 miles away.

Here is a great site to double check your ridiculous LIES before you post them:

Who said Vermont had the highest sales taxes? The property tax is also "pegged" to income so your 2% figure is not accurate for high income earners. And state and local taxes are always deductible on the federal tax return and most states use the federal determination of taxable income for state tax computations. So what?

Vermont is always listed in the top ten in highest taxed states and when disposable income is considered it ranks number uno.

You liberals want to point out one example of a rich person paying mostly the tax on dividends as if it is all "rich" people (a term you guys never really define) and ignore that most people with a decent income do indeed pay much more than the rate charged for dividend income.

The top ten percent of income earners pay 70% of all the income taxes paid. That is more than fair.

I think you should go get a second job so you can contribute more taxes to run our country. Is there any reason you can't earn more money and pay more in taxes?

Wow...what is up with all the insults. I don't know any conservatives who respond with insults. Most of the insulters on these informal discussion blogs are liberals. Are you sure you are a conservative?

As for moving to NH...I would except that if your job is in Vermont you have to pay Vermont income tax even if you live in NH. Plus...NH has a higher property tax than Vermont so moving to NH would be the worst of both worlds.

This discussion began as a claim by you that somehow "rich" people weren't paying enough in taxes. My whole point is that most high income people pay more than their fair share. Let me know how this talking point is going to help get Obama reelected.
