Thank you for showing TURF skate park. We had it open for 18 years. The kids are great, I hope they get one last ride.

Great story. I grew up skateboarding in the 80s and this park was the place to be. It would be a shame to let it be destroyed. I say let them dig up the park and make it open to the public again. Milwaukee and Wisconsin in general needs more skateparks to keep the kids busy and engaged in something positive. Skateboarding is here to stay as as evidenced by the number of skaters you see at local skateparks and events such as the X games. Good luck to those trying to unearth the Turf.

W007! This should be resurected for kids of a new generation, please SAVE THE TURF as a cultural heritage site in Milwaukee! Getting kids away from the TV, Internet and gangs for exercise and socializing with good people is something everyone should be behind!

I agree with all of you. REOPEN THIS SKATE PARK! They are popular everywhere else again. I feel like we had a good period of time where we catered to teens needing things to do, but we lost that. Now that I have teenagers, I can't find much of anything constructive for them to do in our area. Perhaps if they added something that would attract more people like a restaurant or a Barnes and Noble style bookstore with a view of the bowls. If there were a restaurant that overlooked skaters in bowls, I would go!

It was great being there last night and seeing teenagers with their boards waiting to ride it saying "we never thought we'd be able to skate it."

My dad and brother used to skate at the Turf back around 1983. At the time my brother was around 8 and my dad was around 27. I have fond memories of going and watching them. That would be great to restore it. Wasn't it bought out at one point and called Belly Buttons or something like that?

I found a book I misplaced 4 years ago! So it must be preserved using some finances from the government. Bulldoze the junk & get a life.

There used to be a historic Der Wienerschnitzel around here, it's historic because I used to eat there in the early 80's. I hope the modern day anthropologists unearth some of the remains and reassemble them, I'd love a good mustard dog.

I was too young to skate the TURF but heard so many great stories. Would be awesome if they saved it so I could have that chance. SAVE THE TURF!

My 32 year old son just called me and told me the construction company re-filled the bowls this morning. Tell me it isn't so----our new generation of skateboarders should be able to experience the thrills and fun of TURF.

I hope its restored and not only they can enjoy it, others can too. Skateboarders are a group of really wonderful people. I think they deserve to have a memorial place to skate for the older ones and make memories for the younger ones. Good luck !!!

I have lived in Florida for 10 years and when people ask where I'm from, I used the Turf as a point of reference. Anyone who skated in that era knew where the Turf was. Skatepark of Tampa owner Brian Schaefer and Kona Skatepark manager Marty have both skated this park. The skatepark opened eyes for skateboarding to grow and I know for a FACT that it would open more doors for the youth of Greenfield and Milwaukee. SAVE THE TURF!!!

Ok, so what is the BIG deal? The Turf was covered up years ago, where were these people then - certainly not concerned as they are now when new road construction is taking place, no, now is LET'S SAVE THE PARK! Bull to that! Get a life and let today happen. For the way they are acting now, guess we know who wasn't wearning a helmet then.
