Idea of reserving local skate park fizzles - for now

The Wind Chime Tetrahedron Project is not planned for the Skate Park. It was approved by both the Art Commission and Park Commission in 2004 for the site at Humboldt Park. This is a huge flat grassy park at the intersection of Willow St. and Humboldt Ave. which is a mile or so down the road from the Skate Park. Its surrounded by Little Chico Creek on one side and mostly light industrial businesses across the street.

The 40' Tetrahedron structure that the chimes hang in and the engineering and insurance for it account for the majority of the $30,000. budget. Copies of the proposal, illustrations and budget can be obtained by email from the City of Chico or from me.

The chimes have been tuned and tested for years, and can be seen and heard at 1718 Palm Ave. here in Chico. Most of my private commissions to build giant wind chimes are from residents that live in this neighborhood. The amount of sound they create is adjustable.

Another fine example of Chico financial planning! I know, I know, it's just redevelopment money...good thing every single corner of Chico is in spectacular condition in this difficult real estate and mortgage environment, so there are no other uses for redevelopment money that would actually be practical!

I thought we just gave all of our redevelopment money to Tom Fogarty!
