So let me get this straight.... the mother is molested by this "family" member and then when she has her own child she puts the child in a situation to be alone with the guy who molested her thereby allowing him to molest her own child?

Ok, this sicko is caught and convicted, but WTF is this lady thinking leaving her child with a man who she KNOWS first hand is a child molester?

Uh no, try Highway 9 should be closed to all pedestrian traffic. Pedestrians have NO business walking along the side of a highway, it is ILLEGAL.

Oh no, of course they are too busy arresting those violent pot smokers and digging around unincorporated areas looking for plans. Priorities, duh.

Is it now unsafe for three teens to go to West Cliff on a nice evening to play hacky sack? As a community we cannot allow these bullies to target our youth or our neighborhoods. The three young men attacked have grown up in the Santa Cruz area, attend local schools and are hard working and contributing members of our community. They are strong young men who were able to defend themselves as they called 911 and drove away from the scene for their safety. It could have easily been someone less able to defend himself or herself, it could have been you or I, as we parked our car to go for a walk to enjoy the beauty of this community we treasure. Santa Cruz Neighbors has always done a great job of banding together to keep the community safe for the neighbors and visitors. It seems it is time to step up the vigilance once again.

sorry, but it is legal for pedestrians to walk alongside Hwy 9 because it is considered a RESIDENCE DISTRICT. you should do your homework before you post misinformation!

We don't feel safe on our own streets anymore. Gangs have been terrorizing us for quite some time. If that were true (as it is not in this case) no one would be able to walk along the streets in Brookdale, Ben Lomond or Boulder Creek or catch the bus at the bus stops!!

Am I supposed to be baited into replying to this idiotic post? Pretending that I deny that gang activity goes on in Santa Cruz? Give me a break, you're just a sorry agitator. If you went to the Coldwater contest at all you'd have noticed how many were wearing red, even those working the event. This is the case with many on the westside. Don't take it up with me, go ask them yourself "east side." Trying to single out my cousins for doing this as bangers is proving futile, isn't it?

You should do your research on Tasers. There has never been a documented case of a taser DIRECTLY causing death. People have died after being tased but they were high on meth, coke etc which aided in the death. Maybe he should have complied with the officers. Its a great tool vs being beat with a baton or shot.

Hopefully this will be a wake-up call to SCPD to patrol West Cliff at night more often. Woodrow, Mitchell's Cove, Its Beach, etc. There are a lot of known areas where people hang and use/sell in the open. They could do the same thing they did up Highway 9 by Pogonip. My concern is that it will resume again after a short while or just move to a new location.
