Remember: Long Island is home to the only radio show in the entire world devoted to the music of our own Billy Joel. "Piano Man" is heard 100% commercial-free every Sunday afternoon from 2PM to 3PM on LI's 90.3FM.

SO one knows - John Mayar and John Mellancamp have tour dates in the midwest Friday - they will not be there. Elton John - is playing AC on Saturday as is Don Henley - So they may show- McCartney is playing Quebec on 7/20 so that is a possibility. Is Buffett available?

Billy Joel always ROCKS in concerts and tonight was no different. There is something about being in a crowd of over 60,000 all singing Billy's songs that gives me a natural high. Knowing nearly all the lyrics of the songs he played helped me enjoy the night HOWEVER I was sitting in the nose bleed section all the way down the third base line and the sound was horrible. I could not hear a thing that Billy was saying and all of his joking around was totally missed by the fans in the area. Those of us sitting in that area would look at each other totally confused. When he introduced Don Henley, a few people near me thought he said Dan Fogerty. I have seen Billy many times and this time the sound was the worst I have ever heard. Do not get me wrong I would go again in a heart beat but I am hoping for the fans that go to the concert on Friday night that they do something to fix the sound system so that the fans to the left and right of the stage get to hear better than they did tonight. The show did rock and like I said there is nothing like being in a crowd of over 60,000 people singing the same song!

Shea Stdium has ALWAYS had a crappy sound system. Even when the Beatles played there.
Ringo himself said all he could hear was his snare drum!

Back in the 60's I played drums in a band called the Pariahs. My lead guitarist Ira N. and I had the pleasure of performing with Billy for a sweetsixteen party one night. Billy and Ira knew each other and Billy asked him if he and I would play the gig with him because he needed a couple of guys to fill in for the night. We sounded great and no one knew we were just filling in for the night. I haven't seen Billy since then but still hear from Ira from time to time who by the way is a famous composer with a long list of credits to his name. For me having played with these two gentleman is an experience I will never forget!

For me, Billy Joel doesn't interest me, but I can see why people like him. So for those going to see him in concert, enjoy.

I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to attens BJ's concert but from what I heard from various fans, the show was unbelievable. When you have cohorts like Tony Bennett, Don Henley, John Mayer et al. it has to be special. BJ is the man. He had everyone in a New York State of Mind last night at big Shea.

Billy Joel is so overrated. People like him for sentimental, nostalgic reasons but hi songs are lame. This article is too gushing and precious to believe.

Billy Joel crashed his car into my aunts house on Bayville Ave a number of years ago.

He was obviously intoxicated, yet when we pointed this out to the NC police sargeant on the scene, we were told to take it up with our insurance company.

Billy's car was towed and he was allowed to take a cab to his palacial estate on Centre Island with his pizza!

No offer to for pay the damages, no apology, no nothin'.

Wealthy drunks on LI do get treated differently than you and I.
