Why?

ThomasA wrote: <quoted text>There is still the problem of just who in every town, county, and state would be qualified to make a decision over a woman's right to terminate for whatever reason. How would these people be chosen and who would control them? More questions than workable solutions! If we had the question -yes or no- on a nationwide ballot, there would be no such problem. If yes, and a woman's right to an abortion is unassailable, no problem. If no, and a woman's right to an abortion is nonexistent, no problem again. Either we have the right to decide FOR OURSELVES that abortion is a recourse for unwanted pregnancy, or we don't. Period. Currently, we do - but only up to a point. Currently, we make exceptions to whether it's 'right' or 'wrong'. Both are examples of blithering hypocrisy, and it's high time we state our position, without enshrining it in hypocrisy, on BOTH SIDES OF THE ISSUE.

Like I said in the beginning, this third world backward country has nothing to do with abortion on demand in this country but you tried to make some correlation by posting the artcle.

I see you were off to playing stupid very early today Inkstain. Have you not read my posts where I said the gorl should have been treated for her cancer immediately regardless of her pregnancy. Now go back under your rock.

Further, I believe that there needs to be an unequivocal determination on the part of the people, EITHER that the state has an interest in the fetus which trumps the woman's, OR that abortion is a woman's choice, a legal medical procedure, and enjoys equal protection under the law. And then maybe we can move the hell ON with our lives, and quit worrying about somebody else's abortion. Those nihilistic tyrants could just as easily have a hysterectomy, that way they couldn't have any victims to kill, or a place to kill their victims.

It's inevitable. There just aren't enough writers to provide plots, scripts, etc, for the hundreds of channels out there. People want all these channels and something has to fill the time. Syfy has become embarrassing. I stopped watching pretty much when they started the wrestling and the bad "original presentations", most of which were just direct-to-market crap. I do like some competition show, mostly "Chopped" and other cooking shows. And I admit to a soft spot for "world's dumbest" because it's practically a textbook on the lack of thought mot people put into things. LadiLulu wrote: <quoted text> Oh, yes! I forgot! I love Ghost Hunters! Syfy (formerly SciFi) uesd to be much better, I agree. I get frustrated when I see a wrestling marathon has been programmed on it. I mean, wrestling? really?! LOL! I've never seen Pawn Stars or the Exterminator show. It's weird how so many new shows are "reality". Kind of sad, really.

The few times I have seen partts of these hows, the thing that struck me is tha the mothers involved in this tend to be, let's say, unattractive. Every one of those women should be forced to watch "Gypsy", about gyspy rose lee and how her mother pushed her into stripping because of her need to live vicariously through her kids. LadiLulu wrote: <quoted text> Hey, it's fine for little girls (and boys!) to play pretend. But these awful shows exploit these girls. It teaches them to sell their bodies, and that they aren't perfectly beautiful just the way they are :(

Educational, indeed.

If the pregnancy had been terminated, the chemo might have had a better chance of working. Pregnancy takes a toll on the body, and thqat toll is magnified when the woman is already ill. Combined with the time the doctors procrastinated, there might have been a different outcome. Ink wrote: <quoted text> Abortion would not have cured her cancer.

Then you have Steve King, a representative from Iowa: http://now.msn.com/rep-steve-king-of-iowa-say... You have these ignorant, uninformed men who don't see anything wrong with their telling women and girls what to do with their pregnancies, even if they themselves don't even know how the human body functions AND have no clue as to the actual statistics and harsh realities. Backwards ---> all the way back to the cave, apparently.
