The Japanese are still way behind in renewable technology and even after a nuclear disaster that could of wiped out most of northeastern Japan.
The Germans have smartened up and stopped using nuclear. They however have stepped up with renewable energy that is providing a tremendous percentage of their total power.
Concentrated Solar Power w/ Molten Salt could be replacing a significant percentage of nuclear and oil.
Instead, Japan has ultra conservative whacked out groups backing nuclear and not allowing more regulation. At least get rid of the 40+ plus year old unsafe nuclear power plants and build newer and safer ones. But no, that is too radical a concept to Japanese conservative groups in Tokyo and elsewhere. They rather wait until the next nuclear disaster from operating old and unsafe nuclear power plants, while getting rich from payoffs from corrupt energy companies.
