China's Push For Nuclear Power: Alternative Energy And Export Potential

Feb 22, 2013 Full story: International Business Times 28

China has begun on Sunday operating the nation's first new nuclear power plant since the Fukushima disaster in neighboring Japan in March 2011 raised questions worldwide about the safety of nuclear power.

After Fukushima the Chinese paused in their development, reviewed and strengthened their safety requirements and marched on.

The USA, meanwhile, are still operating reactors of the same type as those that they sold to Japan.
The Chinese, meanwhile, are not known for their attention to safety details and the environment. Let us hope that they don't get their fingers burn on this issue as well.

It's a four way race right now. Coal #1, Wind #2, Nuclear #3, and Solar #4 poised next to beat out nuclear. Anybody want to bet how many months it will be until nuclear drops down to fourth place?

More of these highly efficient nuclear power generators will be coming on line. they are designed by GE.

It's interesting. Anyway, this is not some stupid foot race.

The needs of the industry and of the people have to be covered, by any means necessary.

BTW, US reactors are at the Dai-Ni standard, not Dai-Ichi.

Nuclear fusion energy is next on the Chinese agenda. I beleive within our lifetime ,China will be the first nation to use mainly nuclear energy.
fusion is the Holy Grail of energy.

Now as China and Iran are getting into nuclear energy it may become us to invest in Russia’s vaccine for radioactive disease.
“American radiobiologists joined the research in 2006 after the Russian and American vaccines had been tested on animals. The animals, exposed to the radiation level, with which they could live no longer than seven days, were injected with one of the two vaccines. The animals which received the injection of the American vaccine died on the fourth day while the animals injected with the Russian vaccine survived. Two months later the scientists examined the animals and found no deviations in their organisms."

Wow your ignorance is astounding!!!
Radiation interacts with human or animal cells and does one of the following:
1- Cell is damaged but not extensively allowing internal cellular repair mechanisms to correct the damage.
2- Cell is damaged beyond repair and dies.
3- Cell is damaged and mutates, cancer.

There is no magic vaccine that allows tissue to repair itself.
Modern medicine has been able to keep people alive longer than in the past for a dose that would most likely be lethal however how long a person lives after receiving that dose is based on many things (health of person at receipt of dose, how quickly medical treatment such as bllod transfusions and bone marrow transplants are conducted, sterility of facilities, etc., etc.)

It's good to see a focus on clean energy. I wish more people were aware of how inexpensive it is to generate their own electricity. Some people are even taking themselves off the grid altogether now. There are some great guides out there on how to do this, some of which are listed on this site www.diyenergyreview.com if you’re interested?

Scientists at a research center in Vladikavkaz, the capital of Russia’s North Ossetia Republic, have developed a unique vaccine, which neutralizes the radiation exposure on living organisms. Their Japanese colleagues are interested in the vaccine and plan to use it to reduce the level of radiation level of those who involved in clean-up operations after the disaster at the Fukushima-1 nuclear power plant are being exposed to.
According to Vyacheslav Maliyev, the head of the department of biotechnologies at the Vladikavkaz research center, the Russian scientists are now working in cooperation with the specialists of NASA and the work on the vaccine will soon be completed.
American radiobiologists joined the research in 2006 after the Russian and American vaccines had been tested on animals. The animals, exposed to the radiation level, with which they could live no longer than seven days, were injected with one of the two vaccines. The animals which received the injection of the American vaccine died on the fourth day while the animals injected with the Russian vaccine survived. Two months later the scientists examined the animals and found no deviations in their organisms.
After that the Russian and American scientists conducted joint research of the vaccine both on animal and human cells. The efficiency of the agent was proved. The vaccine works even if the radiation level exceeds the norm by a thousand times. However the scientists from Vladikavkaz say there are no plans on the clinical use of the vaccine yet.
It usually takes years to test anti-radiation medications because in case of radiation deterioration processes take place on the level of DNA. We hear from Woldemar Tarita, the head of the laboratory of the All-Russian center of acute and radiation medicine of the Emergency Ministry:
"Among the simplest and most available means to reduce the effect of radiation on humans are iodine-based medicines, which protect the thyroid gland. But if the radiation background is normal one should not practice self-treatment using iodine medicines and biologically active additives. Their overdose leads to negative consequences: allergic reactions, nettle rash, fever and different forms of dermatitis. As a preventive measure it is enough to eat sea cabbage."
On their return from Japan the Russian rescuers will be checked for radiation exposure at the All-Russian center of acute and radiation medicine in St. Petersburg, Tarita says.
"There we have a spectrometer. It is a big iron cell where the presence of the radioactive substances in human organisms can be checked. Now we are waiting for the rescuers, who are now working in Japan. Of course, they are now breathing that air so they can inhale something radioactive. On their return we will check if their organisms were exposed to radiation or not."
More than 150 Russian rescuers are working at present in the districts of Japan hit by the earthquake and tsunami. They have recovered 112 dead bodies from the ruins. Up till now the radiation background level in the areas where they are working has not exceeded the maximum admissible norm and is 0.3-0.4 microsieverts per hour.

I have as well started to build some of my infrastructure and solar panels. Adding piece by piece as financing allows. No loans all cash. Will soon be reaching 510 watt solar array. Then off to my first Kilowatt generation. Working on a Vertical windmill for supplemental energy as well. it’s a hobby that has excellent returns as I continue to add on. Goal for solar 7 Kilowatts and wind not yet established. Your correct any one can. U-Tube has several sites on how to and the comment section is an additional helpful source. Helps to avoid errors and ease the course to correct actions for success.

So your scientific evidence is a reporter from the Moscow times???
Let me say it again no vaccine can repair DNA!!!
That said there has been studies done on cells and animals and we have done them with NASA hear at the national lab that I work at. Immunization with small quantities of the toxins which are created within cells during high dose irradiation with low LET radiation. Those toxins are called Specific Radiation Detriment (SRD). The problem is you have to give them just before the lethal dose of radiation occurs and in general you don't know when that will occur. Granted if workers at Fukashima would be working in 10 to 100 R/hr fields it would be beneficial as their SRD buildup would be minimized. The research still has not produced a prophylactic that could be given post exposure for significant doses >300 Rem acute exposure but it may be possible in the future. Again these vaccines only limit the damage done by the toxins produced in the cells by interaction with other parts of the cell particularly the water which creates free radicals. The vaccine is not a cell repair mechanism which if the exposure is high enough will cause death irregardless of the minimization of SRD.
