It would be for both. For fixed defenses they use to have sappers who would place charges against the walls.

The real point is that no group of 4,000 men with all the equiptment was sneaking up on anybody.

That's interesting.
In what specific battles were sappers used?
How exactly were the charges constructed.
It would seem unusual given the common battle tactics of the period that that was a common practice.
I suppose sneaking is a relative term and perhaps not the best choice to describe that action...

sorry friend no judgement here on my end just responding to your post , and no i am but just a man , a simple man who can see ,hear ,and think his own thoughts and come to a conclusion of my own , i don't need x seperts to tell me when or how the world will end ,as neither they , you or i will ever know that day .

try doing your own studies and maybe you may come to a different conclusion than the closed one you have now .

these so call x sperts that you put so much faith in have done more to discredit themselves and their work , through false facts, e mails, faked ,skewed studies, reports , money grabbing than anything i could ever do on these pages , i believe it is you who look at them as climate gods high on the mountain and their EVERY WORD IS GOD !
