Obama Visits Solar Facility

Full story: KOAT-TV

President Barack Obama kicked off a two-day energy tour on Wednesday with a stop here at the largest photovoltaic -- producing voltage from energy sources such as light -- solar facility in the United States, Copper Mountain Solar 1. Speaking just 30 miles south of the Las Vegas strip, Obama reaffirmed his administration's commitment to an "all of ... (more)

""A century of subsidies to oil companies is long enough. It's time to end the taxpayer giveaways to an industry that's rarely been more profitable, and double-down on investments in an energy industry that has never been more promising.""

Yeah, let the Nevada, Vegas anologies begin! Whether you believe in alternative energy or not, it's time the Government was taught austerity. In 1913 the 16th amendment was included to "insure" our Government could stay afloat by giving Congress the power to TAX the people. How's that workin' for ya? Congress gets to vote for raises, set up their own benefit and retirement plans and raise YOUR taxes to insure it all gets paid for. No job performance based pay there. 535 jerking 300,000,000 around like big dumb dogs on a short leash.

Solar is a pipe dream, the fact is that solar panels along with the batteries to hold the charge degrade to half their capability in a 10 year lifespan.

LOL, my engineering degree along with talking to people in the business say otherwise. Also moron anyone with half a brain knows rechargeable batteries lose their charge capacity over time. Also the solar collectors break down in extreme cold temperatures which 70+% of our country experiences. However your buddy Obama can keep doling out billions to the green hippy solar con man movement and watch more of them go belly up and rip the american tax payer off.

What's your degree in ?? Not solar PV. Batteries are not used except for backup. Most systems are grid tied today. Solar collectors(modules) actually perform better in colder climates. Need to get that other half or your brain working ??

Paul, you're a lying sack of S#(&! You're no part of an Engineer. How the hell do these solar PV manufacturers give out guarantees as a standard that state a panel will put out 90% of rated power for the first 10 years of use. Then 80% of rated power up to 25 years? There are panels that were sold in the 1970's under the ARCO brand name, that still put out rated power. Grow up,get out of mommy's basement and take a good look around, SPORT!

Incorrect their are batteries in the grid moron. How do you think they do loads in the evening, with moon collectors. LOL. Also most individual house solar systems are not tied into the grid. Also incorrect solar modules break down in cold temperatures due to the extreme temperature changes between day time usage and evening usage, its called rapid expansion and contraction. God you greenies make up so much BS. Also solar sucks why do you think most of the companies are going under and this is even with dumbo obamas billions he is throwing towards them with free govt money.

They dont that is why a vast majority of them have been sued and are out of business. Also moron Siemens sued Arco after buying it due to fraud and defects of its panels. LOL god you are green morons.

His "degree" must be in his mind. Solar PV modules DO work better in cold climates outputting more current than when warm. They are used all over the world with no problems, even the far north. Most home PV systems ARE grid connected in order to save on utility costs by turning the electric meter backwards or selling excess power the the local utility. Get back on your horse Paul and loose the booze.

I don't think we were talking about the grid...moron. The majority of home solar PV systems are on grid .

Incorrect, you ever hear of hail, it toasts the panels. LOL, also hardly anyone using them in cold temp regions vs warmer regions for numerous reasons. Also if it was so great the govt. wouldnt need to subsidize it. LOL, you solar junkies keep on holding on to the scam. Geo thermal is where the reality of cutting energy costs . Heating and cooling uses the biggest chunk of anyones energy bills. I cannot wait to hear you try to cut on that. LOL

Daily Horoscope for May 24

Aquarius

In complete contrast to yesterday, you have your head screwed on firmly today. Yet you won't be boringly sensible or drearily practical, so there's no danger of you having turned into a dry old stick overnight. It's a good day for keeping track of important details and processes, such as confirming a forthcoming appointment or filling in a form and then making a copy of it before sending it off.
