I am sure that the 500 or so Americans being denied a job will be truely grateful for this political posturing. And I am also sure that Americans would all prefer to have a power station churning out carbon dioxide or radioactive polution than to submit to a Chinese investment in clean power in America.

America - a great nation being brought down by small minds.

I know I'm dumb but if $450 million is coming from the US bail out the rest is coming from China. But since the bailout if only possible because the US has Chinas money in bonds I thought that would mean all the money is coming from China from the money thee US owes. The other thing to consider is who else but the Chinese are creating jobs in the US in the last year? Now would not be a good time to bight the hand that is feeding!

You can be sure there will be plenty of hand-biting after this "Great Recession" is over.

Actually, when Obama meets the DaLIE Lama in December, that's the signal for China to sell the U.S. Treasuries.

If only it were as easy as that. When China causes the dollar to depreciate then the RMB suffers as along with China's dollar investments. There is a limit to the amount of damage they are likely to do and they may well choose another more subtle way of registering their displeasure such as voting against an American resolution in the UN.

You mean like voting for Rio 2016 Olympics instead of Chicago?

I have this sneaking suspicion that the Olympic venues are decided by the wives of the committee rather than by the member nations. I was thinking more in terms of vetoing UN sanctions against Iran or N.Korea or whoever.

No, you are thinking of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee.

See the history of Jiang's rise for more details. He was quite well-known for his gifts and flattery to wives of senior CCP officials. The ability to tastefully devide loot is highly prized in the gang of thieves called the CCP.
