Judged: 7 6 3 You gotta quit getting your talking points from GOP-Fox propaganda. Considering that gas prices would rise, the minimal jobs that would be created, the steal probably would be coming from China the oil would flow to China, and the potential environmental damage the pipeline could cause, why in the hell would anyone support building it? Researchers at the Cornell University Global Labor Institute, TransCanada, the proposed manufacturers of the pipeline, admitted that "KXL will increase the price of heavy crude oil in the Midwest by almost $2 to $4 billion annually." This will happen as a result of "diverting major volumes of Tar Sands oil now supplying the Midwest refineries, so it can be sold at higher prices to the Gulf Coast and export markets." "The project will create no more than 2,500-4,650 temporary direct construction jobs for two years, according to TransCanada’s own data supplied to the State Department. http://www.ilr.cornell.edu/globallaborinstitu... President Obama has not refused to let the Keysotne Pipeline to be built. He simply refused to be buffaloed by the Reeich-wingers: This is what the President Obama actually said: “This announcement is not a judgment on the merits of the pipeline, but the arbitrary nature of a deadline that prevented the State Department from gathering the information necessary to approve the project and protect the American people…I’m disappointed that Republicans in Congress forced this decision, but it does not change my administration’s commitment to American-made energy that creates jobs and reduces our dependence on oil.” http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/story... |

"The spill prompted the administration to cancel plans both it and the Bush administration had to open up areas off the East Coast and western Florida for drilling. Despite the halt, U.S. crude oil production has jumped 14% from 2008 to 2011, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration. Natural gas production is up by about 10% over the same period.
Before Obama's Tuesday speech, the head of the American Petroleum Institute -- the industry's leading lobby -- said he hoped Obama would follow through with his promises to support more domestic development. "The administration has an opportunity to turn energy policy in a direction that could provide huge benefits to our economy," API President Jack Gerard said. "And if the president is sincere in this, our industry will work very hard with him to make it happen." |

Judged: 3 2 1 --January 10, 2012 - TransCanada Corporation (TSX, NYSE: TRP)(TransCanada) released further details today that highlight the thousands of jobs Keystone XL would create for Americans. The $7 billion oil pipeline is the largest infrastructure project on the books in the U.S. right now. It would create 20,000 jobs: 13,000 in construction, 7,000 in manufacturing. Construction of the 1,600 mile pipeline is broken down into 17 U.S. pipeline spreads or segments, with 500 workers per spread - that's 8,500 jobs Keystone XL also needs 30 pump stations worth tens of millions of dollars. Each station requires 100 workers - that's 3,000 jobs. Add another 600 jobs that would be needed for the six construction camps and tank construction at Cushing, Oklahoma A project of such magnitude needs construction, management and inspection oversight - that would create 1,000 jobs, bringing the overall Keystone XL total to 13,000 direct, on-site jobs. http://www.transcanada.com/5921.html See link for details. |

Judged: 2 2 2 do you practice being an idiot, or is it a god given gift? there isn't enough gravity to pull republicans to obama...he's going after the independents that he's lost in droves over the past 2 1/2 years, einstein. getting bin laden is WAY more meaningful to you loons, one of the VERY few high points you can (and do, continually) crow about. the rest of us appreciated the great efforts of seal team 6, and acknowledge obama's being president at that time...it didn't take a great president to say, "kill him", did it? and his "I, ME, I, MYSELF" speech after the assassination certainly didn't buy him any brownie points other than from you loons. i'll ignore your last statement, it's TOO fcking stupid to respond to. |

Judged: 2 2 2 Notice something here? "...but it does not change my administration’s commitment to American-made energy that creates jobs and reduces our dependence on oil.” Hmmm... that's a strange argument both for Keystone XL AND Gulf leases. How will more oil production reduce dependence on oil? Roy, you just shot a hole in your own argument -- using Obama's own words. LOL |

Judged: 1 1 1 I ca;t figure out your illogical logic or illogical conclusion. Creating a couple thousand temporary construction jobs and a couple hundred permanent job so Canada can export Canada's oil to China doesn't do a damn thing to reduce our dependence on American oil. Canada's oil IS foreign oil. |

Judged: 2 2 2 <yawn> Yeah, yeah... you find things that agree with you and their credible. Same blather,'nother day. |

|
Judged: 2 1 1 First off, the Cornell study admits they couldn't get the data from the Transcanada study, so they just made up their own. Viola! Proof! Regardless, you refuted nothing. Breaking it down: Obama>> American made energy>> jobs AND less oil. Obama says nothing about the source of the oil, just less of it. |
