We need real dialogue on education changes

Full story: Lebanon Daily News

As a Republican who believes in a conservative approach to education reform and achievement, I read with some alarm the letter from Lebanon 9-12 Project's Chairman Scott Russo that myopically mislaid both the blame and solution for current tax and budgeting burdens at the feet of Cornwall-Lebanon School District's teachers.

Where would voters and taxpayers possibly be getting the opinion that all union workers are worthless and overpaid ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Ask yourself why you would vote for a politician that spreads hate and division instead of solutions ?

Jay, you wrote: "If an increase in pay doesn't produce better results, why would a decrease?"
That begs the inevitable question: What's the difference, then? If results will not be changed by a decrease and taxpayers need relief -- and they do -- why not cut their salaries and let teachers share the same burdens others (their employers) have had to shoulder?
I'm told you're both on the Republican Committee. Just out of curiosity, are you and Russo running for the same office?

The request, misrepresented by Mr ostrich was not a cut in pay, but a hold on salaries for now, until we see where this economy is going.

The question is how does one Republican (Ostrich) endorse an added burden on the tax payer in hard times? Doesn't sound like a Republican to me.

RINO?

The union is an organization. The come in united with their blue shirts and condemn the taxpayers for making choices in life that doesn't allow them to live comfortably and finance union demands at the same time! Guess what Mr Ostrich, the taxpayers are an organization too and the white shirts will continue to symbolize that. Ride your high horse on out of here.

The Tea Party and 9/12 Project are simply trying to harness anger and ride it to the polls. Finally, here is some Republican thinking and reason. Let's not blindly follow Scott Russo just because he knows how to rile people up.

If you can not attack the message, attack the messenger. This is a sad little article. The best I can call it is a rant, in the style of the poster child for mental health, Adam Gingrich. Someone asked if Ostrich is running for office, I believe the answer would be not yet but soon. In an attempt to set himself apart he chooses to back the political machines view and not the people. Again.
He abdicates the opportunity to rise up with a better solution but instead goes negative and trys to define his opponent Mr Russo through slander, and stacked high negative adjectives.
Good news folks, if you want more of the same..... irresponsible self serving leadership, your options are about to expand.
If you listen to local talk radio you would not view the pro homeowner survival side of the debate as closed minded and uneducated haters. If you attended the school board meeting or have any input outside of the union and its supporters such as Mr Ostrich you will know that the people, and many teachers understand the difficult times we are in and do not look at this as any more than it really is... survival vs priveledge. The people cherish their teachers, but are crying uncle to the unions demand to take their last dollar.
Hey Adam.... I mean Jay.... Tell Mike Long we said Hi.

"The Tea Party and 9/12 Project are simply trying to" stand up as citizens where they can make a difference in restoring honor and ethics to positions of power where the taxpayer's rights, freedoms and wallets are in danger.

Limit government and prosper freely. Build it and suffer.

If money wasn't that important, the union would not even be here.

If Mr. Ostrich was a true Conservative or someone worthy of the Republican title, he would NOT be spending his time slandering Mr Russo.

I wonder what Mr Ostrich thought of the Congressional pay raise! Sounds like he'd be a supporter.

He strikes me as a Michael Bloomberg Republican, which is to say, not a Republican at all.

I feel like Ronald Reagan, only in reverse. He stated regularly that he did not leave the Democratic Party, ideologically, it let him.
I have been a Republican for 42 years. I am a solial moderate and a fiscal conservative. The Tea Party 9/12 Project aren't conservative they are reactionary, anarchists and opportunists. Their simply trying to take hard time and find a group to focus everyone’s anger at, as a rallying point for their own political ambitions. They promote fear, hate and intolerance for their own political ends. History is replete with such tyrants and tyrannical groups.
As the radical right wing tries to control the heart and mind of the Republican party, my struggle is whether to remain a Republican and work for sanity and reason from within, or switch. So far when I have argued for a rational discussion I have been booed, taunted and harassed by local members of the Tea Party (9/12 Project sub group). They seem to think those who display the most anger and disrespect will carry the day. Their demeanor, language and ideology betray their true purpose.

Careful Republican Moderate and catpaw, I've been watching their posts...they are going to claim that you are Adam, or Jay, or Mike if you keep talking like that! Apparently no one is allowed to have a difference of opinion with them, unless it is those three individuals.

Absolutely right, Benjamin. Get ready catpaw and Republican Moderate for the "RINO", "communist" and "socialist" incoherent attacks. God forbid the high and mighty Tea Party entertain a contrary opinion, you know, as the heirs to the Republican legacy.

Jay Ostrich is not only a member of the Lebanon GOP Committee but is also a member of the RINO class of Republicans who run the local GOP.

His opinion should be considered as nothing less than a mouthpiece for Faith Bender and that paragon of virtue, Adam Gingrich.

Folks this really simple.
1. Abolish the Department of Education. Bring schools back under control of the local community. Sell the Billions invested is buses and gas.

2. Abolish unions who indeed use taxpayers as a money gusher.

3. Abolish property taxes before everyone loses their home to pay school teachers.

4. Abolish funding for Colleges who's curriculum is Social justice of the worst kind and destroying the youths GOD given thought process.

This is Just a start but, a real conservtive sees the problem as it is, not as it seems. Nothing will change till they all get thrown out of office. Including the RINO's.

How we got here.

1. Got off the gold standard. Now money is worthless.
2. Foreced Segregation. Races stii divide themselves by choice. Makes sence to me.

3. Make abortion legel now we have to use aliens to fill the work force.

4. Foriegn aid. Nothing but community organizing around the world. Money used to advance local control of the people. Still starving, still homeless, no better off.

4. School lunches nothing but a taxpayer hand out to those who either don't know how to pack a lunch or are too damn lazy to take care of their own. It's now a billion dollar industry supported by you the tax payer.

5. Bullying policies, kickball rules, diverty training, gay clubs, straight clubs, on and on and on. Just teach. I'll take care of the rest and, for those who don't take care of business, let them fail. Period

6. Last but not least stupid voted for the Ghetto organizer who is great at creating them.

Loved America when it was still a great Country.

Look out third World here we come.

You are not a Republican. You have hijacked and co-opted the Republican party legacy and name to suit your interests. If you had any courage you'd join the third party radicals on the fringe of the political discourse. If your believers are so great in number, the scales should be easily tipped once you all jump ship.

And just some friendly advice: it's your rhetoric, not your message that ostracizes you and your disciples.

See! See what I mean. Your intelligent well thought out response proves my point.

What's the difference between a Liberal and a Conservative?

The Liberal debates on emotion while the Conservative debates on facts.

The liberal debates on what he may lose while a Conservative sebates on what he might gain.

A Liberal chooses to debates without even considering the merits of the alternative, while a conservative debates using the Liberals track record.

A Liberal debates for more punishment while a Conservative debates to free everyone.

Have a nice day.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Virgo

You're feeling restless and need to introduce as much variety into your day as possible. However, you'll want this to be on your own terms, and you certainly won't like it if plans are changed without your consent or you feel you've lost control of the situation. Try to take everything in your stride, otherwise you'll end up feeling exhausted and frazzled.
