Angle thinks Social Security should be eliminated, as well as welfare, ADC, and every other social safety net, including Medicaid.

She thinks flouridated water is a communist plot against America, which only proves she's a de facto member of the John Birch Society.

She's a nut, and so is George Will, who never met a Rethuglican he didn't like, and has the personality of a dead flashlight battery.

She was in reality a gift to Reid's re-election campaign, one that will keep on giving.

If the election becomes a referendum on Reid, she might win. If Reid makes it about her injudicious statements - e.g., "transition out" of Social Security; using Yucca Mountain north of Las Vegas not for storing nuclear waste but for reprocessing it - he will win.

She is a nut case, and when people see exactly who she is she is done, LOL.

High lights of the OP-ED. Her son flunked out of kindergarten. How the F do you flunk kindergarten? He must have inherited he mothers brains. Voted Nevada's worst legislator. Why does this not surprise me? Many votes were "41-to-Angle." Sounds about right. Of course none of this matters to the Tea party where the only requirement is being against Obama.

There’s no doubt a chunk of the electorate is angry at the federal government. But are voters willing to take up arms?

U.S. Senate candidate Sharron Angle seemed to raise that specter in three interviews in the past six months, suggesting that some would seek “Second Amendment remedies” if Congress isn’t reined in.

She said the purpose of the right to bear arms is to check the federal government. But she stopped short of saying that she would support an armed uprising.

“Our Founding Fathers, they put that Second Amendment in there for a good reason, and that was for the people to protect themselves against a tyrannical government,” Angle told conservative talk show host Lars Larson in January.“In fact, Thomas Jefferson said it’s good for a country to have a revolution every 20 years. I hope that’s not where we’re going, but you know, if this Congress keeps going the way it is, people are really looking toward those Second Amendment remedies.”

Also that month, she told Reno conservative talk show host Bill Manders she hoped her opponent, U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, would be defeated at the ballot box before the electorate resorted to more aggressive measures.

“I’m hoping that we’re not getting to Second Amendment remedies,” Angle said.“I hope that the vote will be the cure for the Harry Reid problems.”

And last month she told the Reno Gazette-Journal “it’s almost an imperative” that conservatives win.

“The nation is arming,” she told the newspaper.“What are they arming for if it isn’t that they are so distrustful of their government? They’re afraid they’ll have to fight for their liberty in more Second Amendment kinds of ways. That’s why I look at this as almost an imperative. If we don’t win at the ballot box, what will be the next step?”

Is she simply tapping into an intense mistrust of the federal government? Or is she advocating something?

The far-right third party that Nevada GOP Senate candidate Sharron Angle called home in the 1990s supported abolishing "the debt money system" and ran a vitriolic anti-gay insert in state newspapers that portrays LGBT people -- or, as Angle's party called them, "sodomites" -- as child-molesting, HIV-carrying, Hell-bound freaks, according to documents obtained by TPM.

As we reported earlier this month, Angle was a member of Nevada's Independent American Party, a Christian conservative-cum-libertarian third party, for at least six years while she was getting her feet wet in politics in the 1990s. Independent American Party members told us that Angle switched to be a Republican in 1997 out of political expediency as she was preparing to make a run for state-level office.

But the details of her time in the Independent American Party have been somewhat shrouded in mystery -- which brings us to the two documents we obtained from that era.

Reid Ad: Angle Called Social Security 'Welfare'

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-NV) campaign has a new TV ad in Nevada, attacking Republican nominee Sharron Angle for opposing Social Security and Medicare, and for saying that people collecting Social Security are taking welfare. And what's more, the ad ties into one of the major themes of Reid's general election campaign, casting Angle's ideas as "crazy."

The ad plays audio of Angle, from a radio interview this past May, with accompanying on-screen text: "My grandfather wouldn't even take his Social Security check because he said he was not up for welfare."

The ad then features Edward Coyle, of the labor-affiliated group Alliance for Retired Americans, who calls Angle's remarks "just plain insulting," and also adds: "This is crazy

Sharron Angle Flees Local TV Station Questions

Senate nominee Sharron Angle (R-NV), who has adopted a pattern of avoiding all media except for friendly right-wing radio and TV talk show hosts, had an amusing run-in with a local CBS station's reporter in Las Vegas -- who repeatedly asked her tough questions.

Reporter Nathan Baca asked Angle about past policy position statements on her campaign website about "transitioning out" of Social Security. Angle strongly denied that this meant she wanted to eliminate the program entirely -- saying instead that she wanted to save it. "You believe the Harry Reid lie," Angle replied, also adding that "transitioning out" really meant: "Transition into a personalized account...personalized Social Security accounts that they can't raid."

Labor Targets Angle On Her Social Security Phaseout Stance

Democrats and their allies in the Nevada Senate race have been gearing up to make Sharron Angle's position on phasing out Social Security and Medicare a big issue in the campaign.

The Alliance for Retired Americans, an AFL-CIO-affiliated group, has been staging a series of events of senior citizens throughout the state. An event was held outside of an Angle campaign office late last week, and a demonstration also occurred at the state Republican headquarters this week. Another event was also held Wednesday, at the Cambridge Community Center in Las Vegas, and another event is set for Thursday in Sparks.

We asked Alliance spokesperson Laura Markwardt about the organization's push going forward. "It's definitely a big issue for Nevada and nationally, as the senior population grows in this country," said Markwardt. "Sharron Angle's stances are obviously -- she's come out and said some very abrasive things, has some dangerous plans and would like to dismantle Social Security and Medicare."

Third-Party NV-Sen Candidate: I Had To Change My Phone Number After Threats From Angle Supporters

Around the day of the primary election last week in which Sharron Angle won the Republican U.S. Senate nomination in Nevada, Tim Fasano, a third-party Senate candidate with the right-wing Independent American Party, says he began to get phone calls from Angle supporters warning him to get out of the race, or else.

The callers were upset because they believe Fasano is going to "ensure that Harry Reid is going to be elected" by siphoning conservative votes away from Angle, Fasano tells TPM. In the third call he got last week, the person said "watch your back, we know your live, we got your address," Fasano says. That's when he decided, on the advice of police he spoke with about the incidents, to change his phone number.

The key to understanding Nevada Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle may be the fact that she has not always been a Republican.

For at least six years in the 1990s before she held state-level elective office, Angle was a member of the little-known Independent American Party, a right-wing party that combines elements of Ron Paul's doctrinaire libertarianism -- pro-gun, anti-tax, anti-bureaucracy, pro-states' rights -- with Christian social conservatism and fear of the "North American Union" and other forms of "global government." The small party attracted considerable controversy in 1994 when it took out a newspaper ad titled "Consequences of Sodomy: Ruin of a Nation," which suggested HIV could spread through the water.

Three members of the Independent American Party tell TPM that Angle, a Nye County, Nevada, school board member at the time, was an active member of the party in the 1990s. They say she only left the Independent American Party and became a Republican out of political expediency when she decided to seek a seat in the state assembly, to which she was elected in 1998.

What is next is stop putting fluoride in the water because it is polluting our precious body fluids. It is a communist plot to brainwash our children. And don’t forget to make alcohol illegal also.
