re: Roofs can aid energy crisis
Yes, it is possible to cover our roofs with solar panels and that would reduce the drain on the electrical grid, BUT the cost is the killer factor. Add the cost of the solar panels, the cost of the support equipment, and the cost of installation and it comes to around $7 to $10 per watt. Now if you wish to put a $28,000 to $40,000 solar system on your roof, feel free to do so; this assumes you are installing a 4kW system.
Be aware that it will take at least 15 to 20 years for the system to generate enough energy to reach the payback point. Some people and companies are installing solar systems, but due to the high costs and long payback time, the number is very limited. The costs will need to drop considerably before this becomes more common.

Cabrillo Marine Museum was here long before Long Beach's Aquarium of the Pacific, and to me, has always been much better. You want glitz, go to the Aquarium, but if you really want to learn something about our marine life, Cabrillo is best! And it's closer to the beach, too.

Trying to find "truth" in the media is almost like trying to find an "honest man". Consider the points raised here "http://www.slate.com/id/2195914/#latedict&quo... ;. The Dead Tree Media in the process of learning that "Advocacy" at the expense of proits leads to bankruptcy.

Just because a story matches what you want to believe, doesn't mean its true. We all have to face that fact and realize that behind each story is a geek who wants to control what you think.

Regarding ALMA D'ALEO's comments: First Carson and Waste Management are not responsible for the trash pick up at her school "232nd Pl." The LAUSD has there own trash contractor. She is correct that they don't seperate the trash or recycle at the school site, but they should. She needs to take her issue to the LAUSD school board. Maybe she can have her problem addressed in about a year when they get to her.
