Just what we need-another board member that's a drunk and a criminal!. Vasquez & Villalba have done absolutely NOTHING to improve student achievement. In fact, they have turned their backs on the children. Villalba says, "The current board is a team and we're really working well." No help from her! The community knows you two dopes don't have a clue and would only hurt the district. Villalba--why did you refuse to support Measure M when the whole community wanted it? Aren't you supposed to represent your constituents, not think about your own financial gain? You two idiots make me sick!

I wonder who Mrs. Monge was referring to about not being present at board meetings, maybe Mr. Me, Me, Me.. Ray Chacon? I am surprised to see Vllalba and Vasquez on the ballot. OH now Vasquez has the experience to make a difference. What? Was she standing still for the last four years? This woman doesn't make sense. But then again we have rambling rose Villalba. Have you listened to this woman speak. Diana and Grisel give it a rest and give up your seats. It would be the best thing for our kids.

Listen up, we all know that all our board members are horrible but at this time only three seats are up. Change is needed at Los Nietos but real questions need to be asked. Art Escobedo "Mr. Los Nietos" ran with Vasquez and Villalba. He agrees that the board is working together but is now running with Sylvia Monge. Monge who owes a debt of gratitude to Mr. Nicolas Aquino for watching her kids from time to time. Aquino has had Monge at Each board meeting. At the league of women voters meet the candidates Monge answers were very polished as Mr. Aquino submitted most of the questioned. Our ties with the City of Santa Fe springs seemed to be strand now of days as the food basket giveaways and donations for DC don't seem to come from the city since the "Foundation" has been founded by Mr. Aquino & Mr. Escobedo. These two board member have baited other board member to attack each other over residency and Board members attendance at meetings. It great if your there by if you just rubber stamp what a superintendent wants and shout out the voice of the community during board meeting who cares. Los Nietos is a great community with many years of history. 4 schools three of which while our current board has been in power have gone into PROGRAM IMPROVEMENT!!! Which have spent many hundreds thousands of dollars in trainings. While Ada S. Nelson School has never fallen but receive no funding for training that Teachers there think are important. People wise up soon more cuts will come again and the employees that work with your children and teach your children will be laid off again but the huge salaries and title changes that administration receive will continue. Board members will continue to receive the checks and benefits for the two meetings a month while some employees are not even entitle to receive for their 17 to 20 hours a week. Remember they are all public employees and the work for you the community. These new people running for school board will ask questions and not just rubber stamp a yes vote. One last think ask yourself what has this school board really done. Students are leaving Los Nietos. They are leaving not moving, leaving to Whittier City Schools and Little Lake Schools. School Board members the community has grade you an F and your free ride will soon be over.

LN Parent you need to wake Los Nietos up. Other Districts have schools headed to the 900's while we are struggling to reach 800. You are probably a parent that is content with your place in life too. While your child probably is a below basic student and has bad attendance too! Don't worry be happy!!

First of all Mr Voice, what are you saying? Can you even complete an understandable sentence and get your point across? Your statements are all wrong. Where do you get your info, do you make it up as you go along? It's obvious you don't like Aquino and Escobedo but are you saying you favor Villalba and Vasquez? We should all thank our lucky stars this "Voice in the Darkness" remains in the darkness, and hope he never holds any kind of position of responsibility. Can you imagine if this person is a parent? Poor kids. Wait a minute, could this be Mr Chacon???

It's a shame that many people who would like to be a part of the board conduct themselves in such an immature, visious manner. I will not lower myself to their level, but I do think these people need to be educated. Anybody can go to school and earn a degree, that doesn't make them the right person for the job. Calling somebody a drunk and a criminal without doing your research shows your ignorance clearly. Do you know how much that candidate has done for our school? I know your type. You support ballots without doing the research. I for one do not believe in having more tax increases, I enjoy helping out my childrens school. Education is a team effort, it's not all up to the tax payers nor their teachers to supply children with school supplies or morals. That is up to the parents. America is a land where people are given the opportunity to turn their lives around, the land of second chances. I'm all for someone who has been down the wrong path and chose to turn their life around, and helps children in not making the same mistakes he did. You don't want to hear "stay in school, it's better than being on the streets" from somebody who has no clue what it is like to have a difficult life. It's hypocritical. I support the principal at Aeolian who motivates the parents to get involved in volunteering and donating to the school, that is how the parent/teacher relationship should be. I work in a professional field and have worked with people who lack common sense and often look to me for answers, and these people have several degrees and have never been a "criminal". It surprises me how wrong they are for the job. People often tend to look good on paper, and cannot carry out their job duties. It's often the people who have something to strive for, people that have made mistakes in their past -that prevail over people that have had a four, or eight, or even a ten year education. I don't know why you are so angry, but I suggest you choose your words wisely, as you come across ignorant and presumptuous. Perhaps you should point out facts rather than assumptions.

My apologies, I noticed a type-o in the first sentence of my comment. My fingers were just flying to respond to such rude, uncalled for comments. It is wrong of us as parents to post such viCious attacks on other parents and candidates. We should keep our EYES and mouths...and fingers for that matter on what we are trying to achieve. A better system for our children. We should lead by example. We shouldn't look at the past, unless we are planning on going that way. Remember that, "the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams"...and it is not whether you fall, but whether you get back up that matters. It is failure that gives us the determination to succeed. Do not forget that a house divided against itself cannot stand.

Facts are fact look into what I have said. Los Nietos is a great place with great people working there but if you so called parent choose to turn your head to allow Los Nietos to become what Pioneer High has been the last eight years so be it. But Pioneer is about to change with a great new leader.
Let me put it straight out there. New is get Vote for Nava the man has heart, Monge and Hernandez will bring change.
Villalba at least questions what is happening. Investigate go to the District office and ask to see how many kids have left on permits.......... Don't just believe the hype. Ask a Teacher or employee at your childs school site.

Interesting comments, voice in the darkness. I appreciate your advise. I will vote for Mr. Nava, and although I don't agree with the way Monge and Hernandez are running their "dirty" campaign, you do bring up a good point on change. Thank you for the information. I don't know too much about Villalba, but I will try and find out as much as I can, as my children are young, and I certainly don't want them lead by the wrong people. Thanks again.

Yes, look into the facts by all means and you will see you know nothing about what you speak of. As a sign in front of Aeolian reads 141 API points in two years. Nelson has grown as much, Rancho Santa Gertrudes has done the same and now outr middle school has grown by 51 API points. What has Nava or Hernandez done to contribute to this type of growth? NOTHING!!!At least Monge has given of herself at the middle school and at Aeolian. Of the three running for re-election Escobedo is the only one who has been there when my child went to Washington DC. It was even said that he paid for the food at one of the one fundraiser when Villalba and Vasquez were no where to be seen. Pull you head out of the sand and look around for once. I agree, Monge is someone I will vote for, but I will not forget to vote for somone who has shown me commitment to our kids, my kids as he did when he pulled money out of his pocket as Escobedo did last year and I heard him say he has done this for the last four years. What has Aquino done? What has Chacon done except embarrass us with his drinking problem and has missed as meeting as he has? I guess you like Chacon's style or lack of leadership?

It's funny that you speak of facts, when all yours aren't even there. You say Mr. Nava has done "NOTHING!", and if you had your facts straight, you would have noticed how much he helped out our children at LNMS to prepare for the STAR testing. I am capable of reading the sign in front of the school, as I do attend functions that the school has, and as a matter of fact- I have (as several other parents have) noticed Monge doing not so much for the kids as herself. She tries to put others down to bring herself up...great campaign strategy-attack those who run an honest campaign. An interesting point was brought up about her and Mr. Aquino as well, and I'll just leave it at that. Hernandez...is that the one who doesn't even have any children? I don't trust someone who doesn't have children of their own to give me advice on my childrens future. As far as somebody paying for a meal...yeah-great for the public eye- I won't even waste my time on that one. I suggest you think before you speak, with your "facts" and about those who do "nothing". Oh, and congrats on being able to read a sign in front of a school. It's a shame you are supporting the wrong people, but what can I do with closed minded, stubborn people as yourself? It's a waste of my precious time. I just know of one honest person on there who is really in it to help the kids, and he is getting my vote-not Monge or Hernandez. I just hope the rest of the residents don't fall for the lies being put out there by certain candidates and their supporters-who i'm sure know who they are.

What are you talking about dirty campaigning? Monge and Nava and Monge are both Aeolian parent great that they are concerned. Hernandez though she is young, she is a stand out in the community with work in Thinktogether and other volunteering with youth organizations. Both Monge and Hernandez are endorsed by the local Teacher and Classified Employees unions. Nava refused to name his Non profit organization that he chairs and he stated that he was forced to run not that he was there for the kids. So let stop all the finger pointing and combine to support change for success and elect some new board members.

Wow, you are really confused. Nava never stated that he was forced to run, I've heard nothing but ENCOURAGEMENT from all the parents and teachers for that matter for him, and just because you have trouble understanding statements, you shouldn't misinterpret peoples words. If he really wasn't there for the kids, then why would he of spent so much time helping the kids out before the run for the seats on the school board? I know that the kids in my childs class love him, and they aren't even in the same class as his kids! I've overheard things directly from Monge and Hernandez...that's why I say "a dirty campaign". The way they conduct their business, it's just not my cup of tea. What goes around comes around, though. So it's not my place to repeat the things I've heard directly from their conniving mouths. I don't like the way they have behaved, and by my personal morals, I choose not to trust people like that. I do agree with what someone stated in one of the comments as Mr. Nava has a good heart- I've seen it for myself with the children that he helps. As far as being endorsed, some people say whatever it takes to get endorsed...so that doesn't mean much to me. Actions speak louder than words, so the actions I've seen by the candidates have sealed my vote. You, although misinformed at times-are entitled to your own. I just hope that the best people are chosen for the good of the children. You do make sense though, only at the end of your comment when you state the "let's stop pointing fingers" and for us to combine to support change-we should get some new people in there.

Hey LN Parent that is simply because you were probably educated @ Los Nietos. Some or you people are just ignorant. Being a parent does make you care for kids. Education Certification does not mean you know it all. I have gone to many board meeting and I don't see parent there. Think what you will but Los Nietos is a small district that could achieve great things if we have the right leaders. We don't have that yet with the group of board members we have now. A 51-point jump is good at our middle school but it still puts them last in the area. As your teachers if they really think our board is doing the job and what they would change. In less the 4 year we have gone from a 2400 student district to a just over 2000 student district ask yourself why?
