Cops to patrol Rapid station full time

Right...Rapids will cover the cost. No it will be passed on to every rider. Not just the little shits who caused the problem. Or GR Public schools that did away with busing and shipped their problems to the Rapid. Glad I don't live in the city and have to subsidies this...

Is the RAPID going to pay all of the legal bills after some punk screams police brutality and sues the city?

This is a powderkeg waiting to blow. It's going to take more than 1 cop there to keep the peace.

Considering the number of rides the rapid receives, I'm sure even a one penny fare increase would cover well more than the cost of the officer. Complaining that it will be "passed on to every rider" is absolutely ridiculous.

Director Peter Varga has finally acknowledged that this is a dangerous place.

Fighting at the bus stop nothing new.
Kalamazoo & Burton happens on a weekly bases if not more often.
Pretty bad when school security officers have to walk with the kids to the bus stop to control the crowds. I see preschoolers act better.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. can come out of retirement and help out maybe he can knock some since into these kids.

"Rediculous" best describes the fact that a Police presence is required at all.

Interesting, although, isn't the Rapid subsidized by every municipality it serves? So doesn't this really mean, WE, the taxpayers are paying for these little delinquents that need a public flogging?

I use to be a bus driver when I lived in MI. my opinion is, if the kids can't act respectable & follow the rules, they should not be allowed to ride the bus, plain & simple.

This has been an ongoing problem from the start. Really became a nightmare when the little jerks took over the terminal!

When the little jerks were locked out awhile back the black community was up in arms.

Maybe they should hire people to patrol it? Since nobody understands why the little idiots like to destroy, intimidate, and just abuse everything that is offered.

Those that pay no taxes are the ones that use the police force...

safety is always more important then anything... alot of these thugs carry guns and weapons with them, and they show no mercy, I say they equip every rapid employee with a tazer (the same the police use thats inject into you), pepper spray, and a bullet proof vest ... then when it comes down to it, they can be in charge and at times show no mercy... ridiculous the way people act. Let the Rapid take back the authority so they can focus on doing their job, and not worry about getting killed ...

Thank you Phil, I agree! And why are people always using the race card? I have seen it all at the terminal. It is Public transportation, and it would be nice for the Public to feel safe there. It is really too bad that it has come down to it that we need to have a Police Sargeant to police all the kids and adults.

Maybe they could push assorted black and white miscreants out in front of a fast mover now and then. That would help and who would miss them.
